It may be that Roofe doesn't fancy the northern lights of Burnley.

323 posts before this so I don't know if he's been mentioned before but the Mirror has us and Bournemouth interested in Demetri Mitchell from ManU. He can play anywhere on the left. He's 22 and been on loan at Hearts twice.

We can't buy Kemar, Leeds would be Roofe less (ruthless) in front of goal without him.

I can't believe nobody posted that low hanging fruit before me.

Che Adams would be a very decent signing.

The right age and good attributes which we currently don't get from our other forwards. Can also play wide in a front 3 if required.

Finny how, no matter what the rumour, there is always someone who thinks that particular signing would be good for Burnley. Same with any old loan. Even the most disappointing has supporters for a permanent signing.

Fortunately, we are not the decision makers!

So to sum up the current rumours, we're looking at:

Gary Medel
Demetri Mitchell
Scott McTominay
Che Adams
Jayden Bogle
Yaya Toure

Yaya is a no for me. It's not just his age that makes him a waste of wages, but the fact that the way he played relied on him having the stamina and strength of a rampaging lion. If his legs are knackered, and it looked like were the last time he played for City, then he's not effective. As well as that his attitude is questionable, given he lost his rag over not getting a birthday cake.

I don't know much about Bogle and I won't judge him from a dodgy showing in the cup against Southhampton, but he's surely one for the future rather than someone expected to stroll in and battle Bards and Lowton for the RB shirt. It's good we're planning ahead and I'd say go for it if Derby aren't going to gouge us on his price, but he won't help much this season.

Medel will be a good CM bully boy, and McTominay looks like a safe lad to stick in the centre of the pitch. If I was given the decision to make I'd go for Medel, since it's better to buy a player and have him as an asset rather than loan one and develop him and raise his value for someone else.

I'm all for Demetri. The lad needs a chance and he'll grow, and he would be a bargain as long as Bournemouth don't shove us into a bidding war.

These are decent targets, and they're on the level I'd expect from us. If we stay up this year then we'll be looking at a 4th consecutive season in the prem, and that'll give us more bargaining power.

When snooping around the Championship goals round-up the players who consistently make an impression on me as potential ‘fits’ for Burnley are Nick Powell (before he got injured) and Che Adams.
Possibly because both were extremely highly rated when they were youngsters, lost their way a bit, but have now grown up a bit and are beginning to live up to their potential, almost like they’ve gone to rehab and come out clean on the other side. Adams burst into the scene under Clough at Sheff Utd and looked unstoppable at one point, it surprised many that the Blades were prepared to get rid, but his mental approach to the game wasn’t matching his undoubted talent. Countless examples of Premier league regulars who have had this unconventional path to redemption. Troy Deeney and Joshua King are probably the best examples I can readily think of. Dyche is the perfect manager figure for this type of player IMO and there’s definitely value to be had.

Only going off one game but Bogle looks to be an upgrade on Darikwa. Goes to show how inflated the market is if he is valued at £8m. The experts on here will probably say we should pay the asking price although something like £4m with add ons for appearances / staying in PL up to £6m and loan him back to Derby for the rest of the season and find another top end EFL club for next season.

As Moaners XI’s leading striker, I think it’s only right that I be the one to question whether or not this window is going to result in any upgrade to our squad.

Starting to think the answer is no.

Gut instinct was we wouldn't improve the starting 11, but guess we do have 2 weeks left.
