If you are looking for a similar series, "The Bureau" - a French spy drama is excellent, almost finished the first season and apparently the second season is mind-blowing.

Seen some pretty compelling evidence via screengrab of the photos on the desk that the one she chose is actually Cotton, the bent one who died a couple of seasons ago.

Gah! The wait for H may well be going on till Episode 6 methinks!

Missing (series 1 and 2) were very good. Baptiste which is basically the 3rd series which has just finished was also very good.
Also enjoying 'The Bay' which is filmed around Morecambe.

It's just speculation/guesswork - not an intentional spoiler! Someone on Twitter just tried to see who each picture was from the angle they were on the desk.

Surely not indeed. DI Fleming identified the images for the tape as people "known" to be associated with organised crime. Hastings isn't known.

We're being led to believe that Hastings is suspected through allusion and suggestion, yet there's been nothing overtly stated regarding suspicions over him from either Fleming or Arnott.

The images on the wall were of:

Lindsey Denton
Jeremy Cole
Matthew Cottan
Michael Dryden
Manish Prasad
Anthony Gates
Patrick Fairbank
Derek Hilton

She took down images of Cole, Cottan, Prasad, Fairbanks, Hilton and one image from a file named Current AC-12 Personnel. I expect the image of the AC-12 officer is Maneet Bindra since it is known that she had links to organised crime, whereas Hastings isn't known.

Which leads me to wonder which of those 6 would cause that reaction from Kate and Steve. Cole is dead, killed by Prasad. Prasad's not a copper any more, and neither is Fairbanks who's in prison. Bindra maybe but Hilton and Cottan definitely would. But they're both dead, right? Well, Hilton's definitely dead since we saw him dead with a hole shot through his head, but Cottan might be alive since all we saw was his dying declaration being taken. His death was off-screen.

So, i think the image Kate retrieved was Bindra, Cafferty identified Cottan, and we're being led by the nose into thinking Hastings is corrupt.

Think Hastings may be being blackmailed because he has gambling debts but is also an underundercover officer if there is such a thing ha.

You should binge watch the first 4 seasons before watching any more. There's so much back story that you're missing, and the back story is just as good.

Re your post 68. “We are being led to believe...through allusion and suggestion”.
That is the genius of the writing. In every series Mercurio takes you down the garden path and then twists you back again.
Who believes Stephen Graham, just because he says he’s straight? It’ll all become obvious in the last 10 minutes of episode 6 and keep us gripped until then.

Unless the team analysed all the previous conversations between John and this 'H', and were careful to use the nuances of his language to evade suspicion?

It's all very intriguing.

I think you are both correct ShoreClaret and Ian in that Hastings has planted gangster-lass under-cover with a view to smoking out both H and Corbett after he went full rogue. Then, after Corbett's attack on his wife, old Ted used her to facilitate Corbett's demise by encouraging him to betray the gang.
Probably totally wrong mind you !
