Knew they’d get Burton in the league cup semis too.
The only saving grace for me is that I’m in Holland that weekend so won’t be rushing back. I do fear a little for our away following.
Chelsea are another club who seem to draw a lower league side at home every cup tie without fail.

Shows how far we’ve come , and no reason we can’t give em a good game with 7000 again behind the goals . Citeh were still very strong even with changes for their destruction of poor Rotherham , but if you can’t look forward to a big FA Cup game you’re probs dead from the waist up . One thing I do hope is that they don’t “ throw a bucket of sh1t” over the whole thing with a 12.30 or the dreaded Fri night tv match kick off time .

City away revenge time

I had a sneaky feeling we'd draw them. What's there to lose ? We are expected to go out,it's a run out for the squad,City want to win the league and champions league will they be motivated .

Not a chance we'll take 7 thousand for this one pal. Can see it being a really low following for us, especially if you factor in a potential stupid kick off time.

last year they got Prem League teams in both cups followed by two of the Championship clubs who got promoted (2 home, 2 away)
Year before they got Pem League teams in their first two rounds of both cups (all four matches drawn away from home)
Year before that they got Prem League team in their first two rounds of both cups (3 matches drawn away from home)

I don't get the negativity.
We've got a good record for performances against City, even if the results tend to go against us we can usually hold our heads high.
Yeah, they'll probably win, but that's the beauty of the cup. You never know.
I just hope we field our best side. IF only for the fans sake, to go their and try to cheer on a weakened team would be disgraceful. IF he should go that route, then SD owes it to the fans to let it be known before the tickets go on sale.

With a tough league game at United a few days later I'd be amazed if Dyche picks a strong side to go to City and chase leather for 90 minutes.

Can't remember ever feeling as p*ssed off with a cup draw. Worst possible draw..second year running! Last year with the allocation allowed families to go together to a top 6 club..a day out for the kids. I took my daughter. Not a chance I am going this year. No novelty whatsoever. A bad draw in every way possible. Frustrating.

Not forgetting that of the lower ranked sides they've faced, they've been knocked out. By Wigan.

I think as far as chances to progress go Burnley have been dealt more than a fair hand in recent years.

You’re probably right, certainly a Shiite kick off would deter a good 1000+ and a TV game at least the same added on .its a pity the BBC after swinging their dicks about “saving the fa Cup” and “bringing back the magic “ simply ended up with a few choice scraps with much of the rights going to the likes of BT and assorted overseas networks

I'm beginning to think its fixed this. Us against the wealth of an oil rich state. We really could do without replays. Still if that's what it takes.

I'm surprised so many think this will be a TV game.

My guess at the likely games on the box.

Wimbledon-West Ham (repeat of the league cup tie in August,(which the Hammers struggled to win)
Millwall-Everton (Good chance of an upset)
Possibly the Accy tie.(again good chance of an upset)
Barnet-Brentford (they have to feature the last remaining non-league team surely)
Arsenal-Man Utd (for obvious reasons)
Palace-Spuds (London derby)
Must have a fair shot of coverage.

The good points is it's a local derby almost.and if we go out it's no disgrace, you have to feel for Newport they were one ball away from drawing City.

It's a free hit of a game.

No expectations for us to win so no pressure on the players.

If we lose, well, it was City away wasn't it, and if we win then lovely jubbly.

I think we'll be lucky to take 3,000 to this one. We've played them so often now so that's one factor. Another one is the likely kick of time change and it being on TV somewhere. The main one thought is that not one single club in that draw wanted Manchester City, especially away. Even the small clubs who would normally be clamoring for such a tie. City are just too good. The big clubs get all the tight calls as well so it's the worst possible draw for us. The chance we'll play a little bit of a weakened side too just kills the idea of me going I think. Arsenal away was the only other draw I didn't want, but I think we'd have had a chance there.

Hard to believe we've drawn City away 2 years in a row. Add in the fact it's not a particularly enjoyable ground to go to, we've played there loads in recent years and a potential stupid kick off time then it's about as unattractive a fixture as we could possibly get.

For those thinking we will play a weakened team, we play Southampton the following weekend.
It makes a lot more sense to play our best against Citeh, a weakened team midweek against Man U, and give the lads a weeks rest before what could be a season defining clash against Southampton.

But it will be a much different challenge. Generally speaking we are a much better team when we haven't the ball, (e.g. as at Wembley recently) than we are when we have to try to make the running - as at home to Barnsley.
Not that I expect us to win, but making comparisons to a home tie against Lge 1 opposition isn't particularly meaningful (IMO).
