That doesn't sound like a very competitive level of football. Belgian 3rd tier? Shame as he was so prolific when younger but just never seems to have been able to make any further progress. By all accounts a very nice lad but sadly that won't be enough for him to make it as a footballer.

Absolutely brilliant lad Goobs but, as you say, that doesn't equal being a footballer. Don't know what's happened with him to be honest but he's never stepped up unfortunately from when he was 16-18.Goobs wrote:That doesn't sound like a very competitive level of football. Surprises me that he is still under contract with us at the age of 22 despite being nowhere near the first team
Re: ARTICLE: Ntumba Massanka moves to Belgium
Interesting move for him - could go either way, but it's important for him to get some regular football and score goals consistently. I notice he hasn't found the net much in any of his loan moves. Good luck to him, would be a shame to see him end up in the lower tiers of non league.

Re: ARTICLE: Ntumba Massanka moves to Belgium
He showed so much promise that he got a long term deal which comes to an end this summer. He was, at the time, and in my opinion, looking a better bet than Agyei.randomclaret2 wrote:Surprises me that he is still under contract with us at the age of 22 despite being nowhere near the first team

RWD Molenbeek sound like a name from the past to me.I appreciate they are currently in Belgium's Third Division but as someone who remembers football from the 70s the name rings a bell with me

Interesting the comparison to Agyei as I think the problem with Massanka is his physique to some extent. The last few times I recall seeing him play he looked like a boy playing against men and was way too lightweight.ClaretTony wrote:He showed so much promise that he got a long term deal which comes to an end this summer. Not so much lightweight as he didn’t seem to “give as good as he got” physically.

Re: ARTICLE: Ntumba Massanka moves to Belgium
I have to agree that the way things have gone is a bit surprising . A couple of years ago his name was constantly cropping up in reports of the "reserve" teams and he seemed by far the most likely of our young prospects to break through. He went to Wrexham for a spell I recall and I believe he did well there, but he appears to have regressed where others have really kicked on. Seems a shame, but can only wish him well.

Did he not go to York first and then Wrexham twice?Dark Cloud wrote:I have to agree that the way things have gone is a bit surprising . He may well have Goobs. I remember saying to my lad back then to watch out for this Massanka guy as he's going to really break through, but then he seemed to simply disappear and the likes of Ageyi, O'Neil, McNeil and now a whole bunch of others have surged past him.Goobs wrote:Did he not go to York first and then Wrexham twice?

Looks like Agyei is going the same way. He looked a real prospect too.
Massanka scored a fantastic goal for wrexham and agyei an equally impressive albeit different one for coventry.
ONeil also looked like making it. We could have had upwards of 10m of talent there. Not to mention Cameron Howieson, Jason Gilchrist and the rest of that FA youth cup side.

No one to blame and certainly not Wright. Didn’t step up unfortunately and was disappointing with all his loans.Longsidelenny wrote:So sad what as happened to ntumba I thought he was going to the top blame him or the club but something not wright still time to change it around good luck to him because the lad could play
