They’ve just said that Liverpool beat Fulham 10-0 in 1986/87 but I can remember Spurs beating Crewe 13-2 in the early 60s.

Think City beat Huddersfield by 10 a few years ago. The one I recall from my youth was Spurs 10 v Everton 4 around the late 50's and a cup replay Spurs 13 v Crewe2 around 60)61ish.

I’m guessing but the last one I can remember was coincidentally Man City versus Huddersfield 10-1 in the early 90s

Sky won’t have recognised that one - not in the top flight.

6 subs (1 double)
5 goals

2 minutes added time.

Pedantic but it isn't right.

Spot on.

With pretty much every club having some kind of deal with betting companies you could expect them to at least try to show that they are playing the correct time. There is all kinds of next goal markets that can be affected by this and it’s just not right.

From the BBC live feed:

The last English league side to score 10 or more goals in any competition was Shrewsbury Town v Marine in the FA Cup first round in November 1995 (11-2).

I don't remember this game,but that's their claim.

Think we played Huddersfield the week after in a friendly on 2nd round day and drew 1.1 at the turf.

They should play good football. They're backed by a country with unlimited money and cheat to get round what little financial control there is. That generally takes the edge off it for me.

When Liverpool beat Fulham in 1985 (if the commentators are correct), it was 10-0 in the second round first leg. The Fulham programme for the second leg, clearly written by one of life's optimists, explained what the rules were if the score was level at the end of 90 minutes in the second leg.

Remember the Liverpool v Fulham game - they were in the Second Division (Championship). I was living in London and knew some Fulham fans. One of them drove up for that game got back to where he'd parked his car and found out it had been stolen - not the best of away days.

The abiding memory from watching the highlights of the City v Huddersfield game was Huddersfield's terrible away kit - which can't have helped them.

Saw a comment tonight from that overseas football reporter Guillem Ballague who suggested that Pep playing such a strong lineup was deliberate so that players didn’t slack off, those on the bench know they have to keep improving to get in the team.

Very different from the logic of most other clubs, including us.

Mind you, didn’t help them much at Wigan or Anfield last season.

City take the League Cup seriously they have won it in 3 of the last 5 seasons, sure their priority is the PL and CL but if you can claim a trophy early in the season it breeds confidence, for all the talk of the 'big' clubs not valuing the League Cup,the final is likely to feature 2 Champions League teams.

Hope City have used their goals tally for the month now in cup competitions sadly i doubt it.

Emily as mentioned in the OP never made it to the Etihad.

- she was still on the M6 near Stoke, bu had just started moving when the match ended.

Maybe she got a decent result.

it wasn't closed for the truck it was to enable the manhunt for the 20 or so that managed to run off before Border Enforcement Agency staff could detain them and to provide treatment to those that had severe hypothermia from being inside a refrigerated trailer.

Ballague's a ballbag. City made 7/8 changes, but because they have unlimited money, their B team is better than most Premier League teams never mind Burton.

Man City 9-0 Burton: Eight-hour journey for 15 mins of football:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46815882" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Emily left London at 1pm for the 7.45pm kick-off - she arrived in time for the last 15 minutes and missed the first eight goals.

"It was a long journey for 15 minutes of football but having been stuck for four hours, I thought I wasn't going to go home so I just caught the final bit," she told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I was stuck on the M6 for around four hours in total."

To make matters worse, Emily's brother Edward was travelling to the game from Glasgow - and his ticket was with his sister.

But the combination of modern technology, some affable match stewards at Etihad Stadium and the evidence of their plight on BBC Sport's live coverage meant he got into the ground.

Many clubs prioritise the PL in Cup competitions and it is no surprise that so many are now falling at the first hurdle. In the FA Cup the top 3 in the Championship table were all knocked out and the 4th placed club, WBA, sneaked past Wigan 1-0 despite having made 9 changes to their lineup.

Manchester City have such a strong squad that they could win all of the Cup competitions including the EFL Cup.

A shame if that happens especially the EFL Cup.

Actually City made 4 changes from the Rotherham FA Cup game, and only Ederson, Fernandinho and Laporte were rested uninjured. Three players away from his best available side. His squad has very little to do with it.

It is a very different message to his players when he does that.

Guardiola did everything correct last night.

He's the manager of one of the best teams in the world, and he showed respect to both the competition and his opponents AND sent out a message to his squad.

10/10 management from me

The police have reported they received a call regarding the safety of the migrants which is why they pulled it over.
I’d like to know at what time the call was received and what was the port of entry. Wherever it’s a bloody long way to Stoke.

Rotherham!? Give over. There were 8 changes from the last Premier League line-up at Southampton:

Ederson - no
Danilo - no
Kompany - no
Laporte - no
Zinchenko - yes
Silva - yes
Silva - no
Fernandinho -no
Sterling - no
Aguero - no
Mahrez - yes

Even Foden got 30 minutes.

He has so many good players that City that it's almost impossible for him to "disrespect" the competition, but just because he has those players, don't let your Pep-love get in the way of the fact that he made wholesale changes to his team. I'll buy you a pint every time last night's defence and goalkeeper combo plays as a unit in the Premier League this season.
