Pearler from Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink

Post by Darnhill Claret » Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:59 pm

On sky sports just now Jimmy was asked what he would say to the Burton players in the dressing room at half time (4-0 down). He said I would praise the players, tell them to try and score a goal and try to get a 0-0 in the second half.

Forgive my ignorance but what is actually wrong with what he has said? Dishing out a rollicking certainly ain't going to help!

Whoosh!
Rewound it just to make sure I’d heard it right. Just reminded me of Coleman balls.

To be fair they are playing against one of the top three teams in the world. All they could try and do was try and keep the scoreline respectable. At least it wasn't double figures....

I think it's cos he is telling them to try and score and simultaneously try to achieve 0-0

In fairness, I assume he intended to say score a goal and keep a clean sheet and accidentally said 0-0.

Not having a go at Jimmy. English is not his first language but as I said, it just reminded me of Colemanballs and other things said that just made me laugh when they were said. Commentators nightmare for words to come out wrong in some way. I’d rather just see the fun and enjoy them. Verbal errors are often comical. Excuses/apologies/analysis not required. At least a few of us saw it in the same context.

Next.

I would have taken that as to score goals and try bring it back to 0-0 in the second half? Win the second half 4-0.

Nothing daft in my opinion.
