Re: Jack hays
He joined us from Bradford in 1939 just prior to the War, and left for Bury in September 1951.
Whilst with us he made 154 total appearances and scored 13 goals.
Decent enough player by all accounts, born in Ashington in December 1918.

He played outside left with first Harry Potts inside left and then Jimmy Mac.piston broke wrote:He was in the team in the article CT put up earlier re: Jimmy Macs debut at Sunderland.
When Billy Elliott arrived here in 1951 it brought to an end his time at Burnley.
Sadly died in 1983, aged 64 years.

Re: Jack hays
That debut on 5th Jan 1946 was in the FA Cup against Stoke. His league debut was in the 1946/47 season at Newcastle, a game we won 2-1 with two Harry Potts goals. He scored four league goals that season for us with all of them away from home and all in May. The first was at Newport, two at Leicester and finally the 5th goal of a 5-0 win at West Ham which clinched promotion. His final game, like his first, was against Stoke.

Re: Jack hays
I asked around a few of my football contacts up here and they were not aware that he came from Ashington!
I also had a look in the archives of the library, however, I have been unable to find anything at all except for the information which has already been given.
