Ale pubs Rawtenstall. Worth a stop off.

Looking at getting the bus over from Manchester tomorrow, is there any ale places worth jumping off the bus at in Rawtenstall or do you reckon to stay on till Burnley. Utc

Plenty of real ale places in Burnley, spoilt for choice but Rawtenstall has a few I believe.

I believe that the New Brew-m is now called Jones’s.
It is more or less opposite where ‘The Mix’ was..
- that is, just up the narrow street where Barclays Bank is.

I think another ‘real ale’ bar has opened on there.

Not yet been myself but If you fancy a breky or lunch with your real ale The Firepit comes highly recommended.

It's at the corner of Bury road and New Hall Hey road.

Forget the X43. Quick pint in the Marble Arch. Metrolink to Bury. Nip into the Trackside at Bury railway station. Train to Rawtenstall (they sell irwell Vale brewery ale on board) and another in the buffer stops. Can't guarantee you'd make kick off though...

I went out around Rawtenstall over Christmas. I was really surprised at how many new bars have popped up these last 12 months. As mentioned Northern Whisper is a great venue. I also ventured in to the newly opened Whip And Kitten on the bar crawl.
I even bumped into a couple of fellow Clarets

Rawtenstall has improved massively over the last 12 months for bars and restaurants. There’s now enough options for a really good night out

It is more or less opposite where ‘The Mix’ was..
- that is, just up the narrow street where Barclays Bank is.

The New Brewm has moved across the road into larger premises (the former opticians shop). Jones' Bar now occupies the old site and serves real ale. Also, The No.1 Ale House just around the corner, opposite 'Smacks'. serves a range of beers from the Worsthorne Brewery, plus guest ales.
Good shout too by ClaretFelix re Rawtenstall. It has improved massively for real ale drinkers.

Buffer Stops is great and is run by a young and friendly team who know their ale. You won't go wrong there. Just a short walk from the centre as well.

Certainly has good selection of real ale pubs. White Bull is worth a visit in Crawshawbooth good selection of ales on.

No The New Brew-m has moved to New and bigger premises with 2 floors, it's across from it's old home and next to the mix.
Formally browns opticions.

Their old home has indeed re opened as a real ale bar to challenge it, but the brew-m has gone from strength to stregth.

Agreed. Plus The White Lion (Moorhouses White Witch), Barrels social club and if you want some music later in the evening there is the ??? Dragon on the main road which has one real ale and draught Guinness.

Suprisingly imo Rawtenstall is (at the moment) better than Burnley for a few pints of real ale in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Come on Burnley town centre get your act together and give Rawtenstall a run for their money!

The Mason's what a fantastic pub that used to be when John Bacon had it,staggered up Adelaide st many a time after an all day session in there in the 80s
