Bit harsh. He knew the competition he'd have here when he signed and things can change quickly in football as we saw with Pope and Heaton. Papers love building people up and then knocking them down.
Re: Joe Hart Article..
Harsh but fair imo.
How Hart got so many England caps is a mystery.

Its funny isnt it. How fickle fans are and it obviously comes drom the media.
Harts still a big name. So papers, especially those like the sun will use his name to sell whatever agenda they want to.
I mean its only a few weeks ago they were saying how impressive he had been...
Make your mind up.

Re: Joe Hart Article..
Probably because he's a bloody good keeper, coupled with the lack of any type of competition. Others like Carson, Foster, Forster etc have been given their chances but have failed to grasp them, and look at how their careers have gone, hardly laden with trophies themselves.Tall Paul wrote:Harsh but fair imo.

Yes he has his limitations which we are all aware of, but I think Peps public statements have really had an effect on his confidence.
At Burnley, as Dyche has said himself, it's the last part of the jigsaw that hadn't been changed, the number of goals conceded is certainly not down to him, quite the opposite, but something had to give to get us moving forward
Re: Joe Hart Article..
Saying zero competition for the number 1 spot is a bit harsh, more like not very good competition.Steve1956 wrote:Having zero competition for his place might have played a big part in all those caps,I could be wrong though.
Sadly Pickford might get the same treatment, he's nothing special, however his age, the big fee, playing for Everton, the occasional camera save and being ok with the ball at his feet ( costs a few goals in the mean time mind ) will ensure he gets a shed load of caps.
I'm old fasioned, i'd just want my goal keeper to be a goal keeper and keep out the opposition, and when possible keep the pressure of the defenders and boost their confidence.

Re: Joe Hart Article..
Joe Hart is a good shot stopper but, he isn't a World Class keeper.
When he landed here some suggested that their Citeh mates had nothing but praise for him. Obviously, they hadn't spoken to the Citeh fans that I know. Some of his antics were legendary and unacceptable. Pep talks about it being a difficult decision to get rid. Probably the best decision he's made at the Club.
His temperament and other traits (some mentioned in the article) will mean that his work at t'Turf is now done.

He got so many caps because he was a very good keeper.
He’s not now. He’s third best at this club and it’s no wonder it’s only Championship clubs showing an interest.

I’m with tallpaul on this. During his early 20s he really didn’t have the competition so he was the best keeper available and England managers were loyal, but it doesn’t make him a “very good keeper.”Bordeauxclaret wrote:He got so many caps because he was a very good keeper.

Even within our own club environment we all know he can’t command his area, nor command his defense.

Any club has the right to ask for a player, whether they get him is another matter.

Joe Hart is, was and always will be a better keeper than media darling but dodgier than a nine bob note Jordan Pickfraud.

Surprised to read about his drinking antics whilst on England duty. I naively thought that sort of behaviour was a thing of the past and they were all on strict dietary regimes etc

Well so much for his bad attitude and disruptive influence. At the end he was the first one over to heaton (and them tarkowski) to congratulate them. Emphatically too.

City had plenty of money and therefore options to replace him. They didn’t because he was doing a very good job for them.NRC wrote:I’m with tallpaul on this. He’s declined hugely I don’t think anyone can deny that but at his peak he was a very good player.

Well by the top teams in the world and by the world’s media. I don’t know why anyone would suggest otherwise. The fact that his career plateaued earlier than a keeper’s generally does and that it has been downhill since he left Man City does not mask the fact that at his best he was very good.Tall Paul wrote:By whom?

Re: Joe Hart Article..
What people are perhaps overlooking are the incredible levels Hart achieved at a very young age - which is quite unusual for a 'keeper.
It's difficult to stay at the absolute peak for an outfield player I'd say perhaps even harder for a 'keeper. For all the noise around Pickford over some spectacular shot-stopping at the WC I don't think he'll ever achieve a fraction of what Hart has achieved t either club or international level and I'd be very surprised if he stays England number one for much longer.

Enjoyed not hearing FFS Hart come and claim it when crosses came into the 6 yard box today. Heaton rightly so stayed on his line a lot today, still problems with crosses coming into the box but good to hear the lack of abuse and conjecture. Similar conditions to the Brighton game when surprisingly Hart was criticised for not coming off his line.

Re: Joe Hart Article..
I don’t mind our full backs forcing play out wide and allowing crosses from the likes of Arsenal who’s biggest threat is not from wide, but against Fulham who practically rely solely on the aerial strength of Mitrovic it was a very risky tactic. Some of these players are too good to allow them to lift their head and pick out a cross unchallenged.NL Claret wrote:Enjoyed not hearing FFS Hart come and claim it when crosses came into the 6 yard box today. Re: Joe Hart Article..
We've looked suspect all season defending crosses (Newcastle and Fulham away springs to mind) whether it's not closing down the cross enough or how the defenders are marking or positioning I don't know. We got away with a couple first half too. Really pleased not to have to listen or read the hot air from the goalkeeper experts since Heaton has comeback in the team however the problem still remains.Rileybobs wrote:I don’t mind our full backs forcing play out wide and allowing crosses from the likes of Arsenal who’s biggest threat is not from wide, but against Fulham who practically rely solely on the aerial strength of Mitrovic it was a very risky tactic. Perhaps we could have gone 4-5-1 in the second half however there wasn't the options on the bench. Can't see Defour as a sub who would be able to pick up the pace of the game.

I reckon that the most damaging factor to Hart's career is being thrown on the advertising scrapheap by Head & Shoulders due to his lack of hair.
The next is the fact that he is rubbish in the nets.
