Vardy - Diving
Now this isnt just Vardy but how can players keep getting away with this trying to cheat referees into getting penalties.
If you cheat in other sports you are punished regardless of whether a decision was made on the field of play. Look at the Australian cricket team and the banning of their players for ball tampering. Cheating to try to win a match. In my eyes no different to diving to try to win points.
Sooner the F.A start dishing out 5 game bans for it the better. It would stop within a season.

Yes I thought they could do post match charges of simulation but that looks like you have to have gained from the situation.
I would suggest, bringing the game into disrepute.
He just did what he has always done, sought to tap his foot against an opponent's as he deliberately tumbles.
Won the league for Leicester doing that.
He should be top target to make the example.

It's killing the game, certainly eroding my interest in watching football that's for sure.

Re: Vardy - Diving
A Southampton player did exactly the same - neither he nor Vardy were punished - it looks like cheating is acceptable again. The "clampdown" didn't last long, did it ?
Re: Vardy - Diving
It’s been going on for decades and isn’t a recent thing
Re: Vardy - Diving
I would suggest looking at the number of Penalties awarded to Leicester...

Re: Vardy - Diving
Remember when Vardy was an England International? How times change.
Re: Vardy - Diving
When Leicester won the Championship (& we were runners up) ... Nugent was top scorer and most were from guess what "PENALTIES"IanMcL wrote:Yes I thought they could do post match charges of simulation but that looks like you have to have gained from the situation.

He’s a cheating rat. You would like to think that the retrospective punishment rule will be changed for next season.

Francis Lee mastered the art of diving and that was well over 40, nearly 50 years ago.joey13 wrote:It’s been going on for decades and isn’t a recent thing

Re: Vardy - Diving
The good thing is more and more pundits are climbing on Sean's band wagon, and saying it's not good enough. to only punish the cheating retrospectively, IF it's successful is pathetic. Sooner rather than later the Prem will have to get on board.

Some legendary strong man, either way. Had it been made a few years later the horse would’ve been called Geoff Capes.Bosscat wrote:Hercules was the horse wasn't it ?

Re: Vardy - Diving
Would love to have a striker as good as Vardy at our club. Top bloke and probably gets fouled and manhandles by defenders without getting the decisions he deserves as much as he dives and wins fouls for nothing so dont really blame the chap
Re: Vardy - Diving
Yeah coz that justifies blatant cheating. Mind you you like the attention of being deliberately contrary.Devils_Advocate wrote:Would love to have a striker as good as Vardy at our club. Wow! That's pretty damning and shows the extent of their antics... (notice how I shied away from suggesting that they may be cheating, even though they are!)Bosscat wrote:I would suggest looking at the number of Penalties awarded to Leicester...

Some investigative Journo-type person should take this one by the horns and reveal the full extent of the problem. As has been suggested by others, it spoils the enjoyment of football and needs stamping out !

Re: Vardy - Diving
The best way is a points deduction if you are found guilty of diving and asking for a penalty.
Only needs to happen once diving would stop.
Bet it would be us who would be found guilty.

Devils_Advocate is really upping his game, recently. Pretty soon the Prince of Darkness may acyually pay him for his services; it’s strictly Pro Bono, at the moment.
