Southgate to Man Utd
Hopefuly he stays and continues his excellent work with England. Hoping he can stick with the nationalnside for years to come. Perfect match.
That said could totally understand why he would take the job.
Thought Zidane would be a shoe in at old trafford.

Southgate is so close to greatness with the national team he’d be a fool to leave.
Great club offers would follow if he wins anything as a national manager.

The problem is that one bad tournament and the fans and press would want him out.piston broke wrote:Southgate is so close to greatness with the national team he’d be a fool to leave.

To me he is the perfect manager for england. And results are showing.
Hopefuly he can win in summer which would breed more confidence still.
Some excellent young players coming through too. Declan Rice looked exceptional today. Along with several other youngsters. Foden. Sancho and perhaps Hudson Adoi.
Kane is one of the worlds best strikers. Sterling if he can bring his club form isnt far behind in his role. Alli, Arnold, Rashford and Loftus Cheek will have many years at the top and trophies ahead of them.
Most importantly he has created an incredible pride, team spirit, belief and desire.
Also not afraid to blood unfashionable players at snall clubs...
Be a real shame to lose him.

Would be amazed if Southgate walked out on England. We have a real chance of winning something and this next 10 years or so could be a golden period. Even the likes of John Stones and Dele Alli who we think of as experienced players now will still be in their late 20s at the 2026 World Cup!

Re: Southgate to Man Utd
I’d be amazed if United were interested in Southgate. I’m sure they’ll remember he was a pretty mediocre club manager and beating Tunisia, Panama and Sweden over 90 minutes won’t have done much to change that. Equally, Solskjaer has ties to the club, so I would expect him to be more attractive to the mancs, plus he has the benefit off 6 months actually managing the club.
Southgate has taken to England as Howe to Bournemouth. He’s brought pride back and restored the nations interest, as a result he’s riding a crest of goodwill and would be mental to walk out on that.

He was a mediocre manager (Allegedly) over ten years ago though. When he was in his 30s. And hadnt any experience or done his badges. He since has both and has done very well. I am sure he learnt from his time as a club manager. And his time with the under 21s. He is an intelligent, open minded manager.Darthlaw wrote:I’d be amazed if United were interested in Southgate. He left boro one point off top of the championship. He was 38. To put it in context him and Dyche are the same age. Dyche was playing for Northampton when Southgate was a young premier league manager.

I think Southgate is best sticking with what he's currently doing.

Pretty sure it's his current achievements with England that's got people/papers suggesting it.South West Claret. wrote:What's Southgte actually achieved in club football that qualifies him for the MU job can someone tell me.

United will be daft to not give it to Ole and Phelan

Re: Southgate to Man Utd
I was sat in a hotel bar in Liverpool watching MOD, Southgate and a few Boro players were watching (they were playing Everton the day after).
Someone had been sent off on MOD, there was a bit of a discussion between Southgate and his colleagues, then he leaned over and asked me if at had been a straight red or 2 yellows.
I told him it was 2 yellows, he thanked me but pulled a face. 'That means he'll be available to play against us in two weeks then'.
Kind of dispelled my image that football management was all hi-tec stuff.
