Andre Shurrle’s goal
I remember a period, when on the previous board, Darren Bent’s goal for Ipswich (into the very same part of the goal) was lamented for several seasons. It was a stunning goal.
However, I’m not sure that Schurrle is getting the credit he deserves - it’s a world class finish: the ball, the run, the take and the volley on the up. To say it was so early in the game, for me, made it more impressive. In the ground I thought Taylor and Mee should’ve reacted quicker to the ball over the top, but they had no chance. You could argue that Tarky too, played him onside, but when all is said and done, it’s just a wonderful, wonderful goal.
Shurlle’s touch to bring the ball down reminded me of how Hendrick brought the Lowton pass down before his goal against Bournemouth.
It’ll take an absolute peach to beat this goal in January’s goal of the month competition.

It was a hell of a strike. I didn't appreciate at the time just how good it was, but after seeing the replays, it was a stunner.

it was so good that even if Hart had been in goal, he wouldn't have been blamed for letting it in.

Best part of that goal was how he killed the ball the speculative punt up field.

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
There is never any reference to the opposition on UTC. Great first touch and strike. Outstanding.
You read other posts that we were abysmal in the 2nd half. Then again what do they expect Fulham (a club who have spent millions) and a manager who was won titles to do at half time. Make tactical changes or just say go out there and let Burnley tickle our bellies?
Had Hart been in goal the goalkeeping experts would be over analysing his positioning, not coming for the ball, his organisation of the defence, not shouting enough and the defence have no confidence in him even with a strike of this quality.

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
Tom's experience is probably that 90 times out of a hundred a player in that position would take the ball down and then bear down on the goal. Had Schurle done that then Tom's angles and position would've been about right, especially if the player's first touch gave Tom the opportunity to sprint out further and get there first.
Unfortunately Schurrle's skills enabled him to do something very different. Terrific piece of play.

I think 9 times out of 10 in those conditions that ball wouldn’t have been plucked out of the air and would have run out for a goal kick.Sarum wrote:Tom's experience is probably that 90 times out of a hundred a player in that position would take the ball down and then bear down on the goal. Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
He's far too good for Fulham, in fact he's better than most of the players in Arsenal's team.

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
Tom said on Sports Report last night that he’d set himself expect either him to loosely control it and run in, or for him to miscontrol it. He didn’t expect him to bring it down as he did, said it was an unbelievable strike and that he just had to wave at it as it flew past. Unreal goal.

Would love to see him on our right wing, always thought chelsea were mad to sell him as he was good for them too.
Bet his wages are astronomical though!

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
Did anybody notice how Shurrle's looked up prior to the superb touch?
He knew Heaton was further out before he even controlled it. Following that up with the strike, it was just all perfection.

Wait.... Hibsclaret said that it was just fortunate that Taylor messed up? Imagine if Ward had of been playing!!

And the goal he got for Chelsea, t’other year, must be one of the best goals ever scored ont’Turf. Scored at Fulham as well. He just loves playing against us.

Was ok. But Hart would have been on his line and caught it with ease.

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
That goal he scored for Chelsea is the best team goal if seen scored against us at Turf Moor. It’s wasnt just the technical quality, but it was the first game of the season.piston broke wrote:And the goal he got for Chelsea, t’other year, must be one of the best goals ever scored ont’Turf. Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
I thought Pedro's goal for Chelsea was on par with Schurrle's one except it didn't have the crisp finish. It will be interesting who will win that goal of the month.

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
It was a quality goal befitting a player with a World Cup winners medal. The way he brought it under control with his first touch was outstanding and the volley simply sublime. That said, Nick Pope would have caught it

Yes a good goal. One of the best I've seen at the Turf was scored by Chris Wood-----for Leicester in the cricket field end.

Great goal but is it worth having a player who scores a wonderful goal then does nothing for the next 85 mins
I dont think so.Theres lies Fulhams problem ,lots of good individuals on big money but no team ideology unlike Burnley. No heart when the going gets tough

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
it was a bad defensive goal from our point of view, he had far too much time to do what he did.

He's a level above Fulham for sure, as bad as we were at craven cottage, and we were horrible, I don't think we'd have lost that game if he wasn't on the pitch.

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
It was a fantastic goal where everything fell right for him. Fro my view in the CFS I thought our defence were slow to react and that Heaton should have done better, until I saw it on MoTD and my opinion changed. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat and say "well done" - we didn't really do anything specific wrong, he just served up the goods and scored.
That said, Joe Hart would've performed a triple salchow on his line whilst washing his hair and still tipped it over the bar for the cameras...

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
The strike was outstanding but that first touch was something else, absolutely magnificent. Not sure we could have done anything at all to prevent that goal.
I know it wasn't in the same sort of position but did anyone see the similarity with Hendrick's goal against Bournemouth two seasons ago?

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
He was the best player on the pitch by a country mile for me down at Craven Cottage. Not bad when you can get a player of that quality on a two year loan.willsclarets wrote:He's a level above Fulham for sure, as bad as we were at craven cottage, and we were horrible, I don't think we'd have lost that game if he wasn't on the pitch.

Great goal - not every goal we concede is somebody’s fault !!
He likes playing against us doesn’t he !
There is a reason he has ended up playing as low down as Fulham though.
For all the money they have spent Fulham don’t look great...do not seem to have the right balance and no clear game plan

Re: Andre Shurrle’s goal
Not once he got the ball, but I'm Dyche sure will have been asking questions about Mee, Taylor and Tarkowski for their positioning before the ball was played forward. My thoughts on this are that they got caught a bit cold so early in the game, and weren't fully concentrating.ClaretTony wrote:The strike was outstanding but that first touch was something else, absolutely magnificent. That's why they're going down. Bottomless pockets don't always create the best teams unless you have quality already and are merely adding to it (As per the top 6 teams)TVC15 wrote:For all the money they have spent Fulham don’t look great...do not seem to have the right balance and no clear game plan
