I like Tyler but I have to say over here on NBC we have Arlo White with Lee Dxion and Graeme Le Saux and they are superb, miles better than the Sky lads imho

I'd imagine it's part of his contract, sounds like a complete tool though.

Watch NBC in the UK and agree Arlo White is suberb. Dixon flits between great analysis and downright condescending

Most boring man in football. The way he drones on incessantly with the most inane irrelevances sends me mostly to sleep.

It's a nonsense but he probably has to say it. Otherwise he's as good a commentator as there is.

Not too bad is White but Dixon doesn't half waffle. I prefer my commentators to describe the game.

Follows every one of his many quips during a game with a stifled chuckle.

Very irritating.

The trouble with Tyler is he can't stop talking. He seems to be under the impression he's on the radio.

Arlo White is I am sure an English guy who started off on radio 5 live.... He was making quite a name for himself and was really good.....I also think he emigrated to the States where he has worked ever since.

Yeah, the other thing about Tyler seeing as we're on the subject: he's so busy waffling that when a goal is scored it's like, oh someone has scored a goal. There's no alteration in cadence to give a sense of excitement. Sorry, fans of Tyler but he's dire.

I think he commentates in-situ in the UK.

So Martin Tyler ranges from Dire to the best there is.
I'll go fair to middlin then and say he's just ok.
Don't think we are blessed with great commentators as in the past.

That’s correct. The commentators are based in the UK
The studio presenters are in the US

On the topic of waffling, there's no one currently able to match Danny Higginbotham. Always seems in a hurry, trying to fit the most number of words he can into the shortest space of time. At the end of it I just wonder why he brothers because it is so disorganized and lacking any focal point that ultimately the viewer is none the wiser for his input.

Money where his mouth is as one of the Woking coaches. Fair play to him I say.

Used to love Brian Moore commentary and presentation on ITV / London weekend TV. Hugh Johns was entertaining when commentating on the Midlands clubs for ITV - Wolves, WBA, Coventry City etc. Tyler is good but as mentioned above gets a bit carried away with things he has on his "list" making sure he gets them all in before the football gets in the way. Motson was a bit like that too.

Probably because Sky don’t have any crappy gimmicks anymore, like Interactive Football, Fanzone or 3D coverage.

The fact that it’s Live shouldn’t be a selling point anymore. Maybe next season, his hook will be “and it’s in colour!”

The worst by a big margin was Dean Sturridge. He disappeared - what happened to him?

Its time Tyler retired. His love for Liverpool football club is irritating he mentions them in every commentary.Next time hes on clock how long before he drones on about them.

I think Simon Brotherton is the best commentator on English games.
I'm a sucker for those Lionel Messi youtube highlights and there's an English commentator who I always enjoy listening to, don't know his name though (no, not the Geordie fella).

Always followed by a quick breath and a loud "BUT...."
