Utd results since Solskjaers return
What a start he's had. Who's going to be the 1st team to beat them ? Could we ? You just never know.

I hope he gets the job full time. Comes across as a genuine person and clearly seems to have lifted their chins from the floor.

David De Gea earned his crust today, unfortunately.

Agree Frank, like a breath of fresh air for Utd after it had gone stale with the deluded one.FactualFrank wrote:I hope he gets the job full time. Comes across as a genuine person and clearly seems to have lifted their chins from the floor.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
Looked electric up front and pretty solid at the back. At end of month we play City and Utd away within the same week. The big question is who'll put most goals past us and how many. I reckon City will score 4 and we'll keep Utd down to just 3

Had Moyes kept Phelan at UTD and listened to him, he'd still be there

Isn't Phelan an Earby/Nelson boy? I knew a lass who lived in Earby and she said she was his niece, which she says is why she was a Man U fan.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
Perfect match. And cant believe people were judging his ability after a relegation with an abysmal cardiff team.
Knows the club
Knows what the fans expect
Has an excellent team that didnt like the previous manager
Couldnt lose. A great move for him and the club.

But you would think that if he was regarded as being a good manager he would have got another job in England/Europe after leaving Cardiff, rather than returning to Norwegian football.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Perfect match. Welcome to football. That's how managers are (rightly or wrongly) judged these days.cricketfieldclarets wrote:And cant believe people were judging his ability after a relegation with an abysmal cardiff team.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
These are early days for Man U and Solskjaer. I’m sure many of the players are glad to see the back of Mourinho, and rightly so. Man U have many talented players, given the freedom to show their skills, they’ll do very well. However, when things start to go pear shaped for a few games, and they will, it’s inevitably, that’s when Solskjaer will show his skills as a top club manager. I don’t envy anyone having to handle all those over inflated egos on a daily basis.
Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
Man U supportersI know think Phelan is the main reason for their change of form.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
Whoever is responsible, it easy to see the difference. Pogba himself says they've been let loose to play. IF you don't play to a players, or teams strengths you're bound to struggle.
A lot of similarities with ourselves only we didn't need to change Dyche. The intensity the Bardsley and McNeil show, their drive to push or pass forward, have changed the whole feel. Hendrick and Westwood are doing the same and we look a different team. Westwood looks a completely different, and massively improved player, the best since he joined us.
I just hope that we keep it up, as second half Saturday we looked like slipping into old bad habits.

The second half on Saturday we were playing into the teeth of a gale just like they were in the first half. It wasn't the whole story but it certainly contributed, plus they looked a different team when Cairney came on.Colburn_Claret wrote:Whoever is responsible, it easy to see the difference. I think it's way too early to tell if he's right for the job. He's certainly had a good start but they've had a relatively easy run minus the Spurs game which they were very fortunate to win (De Gea kept them in it).

Freedom to play was the only thing required for top players.
They were lucky yesterday though Spurs carved them open time after time but just kept shooting stright at De Gea.

Brilliant bit keeps getting shown even now on Soccer AM is when he is sat on the bench and stamps on the balloon and Ferguson jumps and tells him to "F**k off"chekhov wrote:The Phelan brothers went to my school in Colne. The whole family were Clarets As I remember.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
The Gale was behind us second half, which is why playing long balls was stupid. Everything went straight through to the keeper.Chobulous wrote:The second half on Saturday we were playing into the teeth of a gale just like they were in the first half. We should have kept it on the deck, pass and move, and Fulham wouldn't have had a sniff.
IF we play positive against Watford, we can get a result. IF we go back to playing negatively, we'll get beat. It's that simple.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
I saw a game where Tim Sherwood was pundit, around the time of Solskjaer's appointment (I forget which game), where he said it was similar to his position at Spurs when he took over. He said how it's the easiest job to let players, stifled by tactics, off the leash and tell them to just go and enjoy their football again. He also made a point about how once the next season started he saw how his own tactical knowledge was lacking, which led to his dismissal.
Man U need to take heed of the similar situation here, when appointing their next manager, although Solskjaer has shown good awareness so far. If the right candidate wasn't available i.e. Pochettino, then they certainly should be giving him a chance if this form continues.

I'm a clown for pointing out that Tim Sherwood drew parallels in his own appointment and criticised his own tactical awareness. Or was it for suggesting OGS should be given a chance if his form continues..? Just to be clear?joey13 wrote:Tim Sherwood who still gets away with being a pundit, said Spurs would win the League, clown
Sometimes its not always about tactics and more about motivation. See Owen Coyle in wikipedia if your memory doesnt extend beyond six months.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
TBF to Solskjaer he can only be judged once he has had a full pre-season and signed his own players,i didn't see the match, but by all accounts United were abysmal.
Big challenge in the summer for Ole,he needs to ship out the dead wood, and there's plenty of that, and somehow he has to sign 5-6 quality players and mould them into a team.

Re: Utd results since Solskjaers return
Solskjaar will be found to be well out of his depth at Premier league level. I don't know who runs the show at OT but they need to steer a new course and quick. I can now see United missing out on a champions league spot, and with having Ole at the reigns will struggle attracting the very best.
Looks like United will be looking upto City and Liverpool for years to come
