Strange and out of order. He's done so well for them. Took them further than they should be.

I guess it depends on finance. He's done so well for them and never deserved the sack, but if they risk millions on a new manager the risk could keep them up. I'm not laughing until I know the replacement!Goobs wrote:hahaha well that's them even further in the crap now then surely?

Makes you think back to 2014/15 when we were relegated and our board stuck by Sean.
A Championship demolishing season followed by 3 seasons and counting in the Premier League.
Boards of directors pull the plug far to easily these in these days of "instant glory or else"

Not been sacked
From Dean Hoyle: "I had no intention of sacking David this season. Subsequently David – being the great man he is – came to us and made it clear that he needs a break from the rigours of football management."

I think if a manager takes a club up, they should survive taking them back down. Football has room for ethics. That's my take on it.Bosscat wrote:Makes you think back to 2014/15 when we were relegated and our board stuck by Sean.

Re: Wagner goes
If HTFC said he wants to walk, that's probably true. Bottling it mid-season looks worse on his CV than having performed the impossible twice but failed on the hat-trick.
Re: Wagner goes
Think it's too late for them anyway. Not sure who will want that job tbh.
Re: Wagner goes
He seems to me like a decent and fair bloke. I think they have been unlucky to have so few points this season as they have played well a few times from what I have seen but not been able to score. Losing their best player to injury was a big blow.
If Wagner has stood down himself that’s a shame for Huddersfield as to get them up and keep them there with the little money they spent was a massive achievement

His stock was high. And he had taken Huddersfield as far as he is likely to. Second season syndrome too etc.FactualFrank wrote:Why?
Course he could have gone down and done a Dyche. But there are more examples where this doesnt happen than does.

Re: Wagner goes
There's cash to spend at Huddersfield this January so he's probably not a big enough name to attract the right players.
Same as Dyche struggles, but that's down to finance as well.

"We discussed making that change immediately, but he also made it clear that he would give his all for the rest of this season before departing in the summer if we preferred.
"After a long discussion we all felt that David staying at the club until the end of the season was best, but we've kept discussions open and we all now feel that the time is right to part ways.
Re: Wagner goes
I might be in the minority but I'd be pretty peed off if I was a Hudds fan. I doubt anyone will keep them up and the fans know that, but they still wanted him in charge. He's walked away from a sinking ship which is unbelievable sh**housery. He's got them out of the Championship once and now balked at the task, or does he think he's too good for that now?
He needs some time off is a wierd excuse. I bet he doesn't go back to Hudds in 6 months let's put it that way.

Surely if you're a manager doing well at a club, you can flip the coin and have confidence in your own ability to carry it on. If I was a manager and doing well, I'd want to carry on doing well as opposed to switching. As I say, it's brilliant when you know what's happened.
And that definitely reads to me that he was basically sacked, just in a nicer way with a better mark on his CV.

Re: Wagner goes
Calamitous knee jerk decision that will come back to haunt them in the longer term. Wagner was a good manager for them. He won them promotion, kept them up last season and they played some attractive football under him at times.
Losing Mooy has had a big impact on them and that can't be blamed on anyone.
If they do go down then Wagner would have been the best candidate to get them back up and not giving him the outside opportunity to turn things around or do that is scandalous. Results are important, but sacrificing a manager who has done well for a club in the recent past is wrong on a number of levels.
Huddersfield had a mountain to climb to make it into the Premier League and staying up was an even greater challenge. The most likely outcome in relation to them staying up was failure, just like it is for any club outside of the top six. Realistically, Wagner has performed in line with expectations.
A new manager will unsettle everyone at the club and have a severe impact on the unity they need to pull themselves out of the crap or recover and move forward in the future.

As you've covered what has already been said, I agree. But will have to wait and see who comes in. They don't have the money to bring in certain managers. Some managers need money to succeed.Long Time Lurker wrote:Calamitous knee jerk decision that will come back to haunt them in the longer term. Wagner was a good manager for them. I think Mooy is their best player, But their problem has been not being able to finish off the chances they create, it’s taken 21 matches this season for one of their strikers to score a goalLong Time Lurker wrote:
