Should we loan out Pope
Should we loan out Pope
Great pity about Nick's injury at the start of the season otherwise he would have certainly been our first choice keeper
However, given the upturn in results, coinciding with Heaton back between the posts, it's highly unlikely he will get many chances for the remainder of this season
For me, he is our future No 1, but would like to see him get plenty of game time now to prove fitness and maintain form of last year
Other Prem clubs a definite no, but it seems Leeds are still wanting another keeper with Forster (Southampton) being the latest one linked so surely they could be interested
Offering Vydra (who they wanted to sign this summer) as part of a loan package would free up some monies and we could go for Okazaki as our 4th front man
I get SD's comments about wanting all three at the club but fear Pope would get unsettled if not getting any games (it's only months since he was part of a World Cup squad)
His value would go down if not playing but go up if starting games - even if with Leeds

Re: Should we loan out Pope
Have I read that correctly? You’re suggesting offering Vydra and Pope on loan to Leeds to bring in Okazaki?
Re: Should we loan out Pope
Think Pope going out on loan and playing somewhere would be a good idea. Hart can stay as our number 2, then we can reassess things in the summer.

Re: Should we loan out Pope
Id sell Pope as im sure we could get a real fee off a team like Spurs.
Heaton has proved he's back to his best but has displayed a Beast like attitude to being #2. In contrast Hart isnt quite the keeper he was he but has shown what a great guy he is and what a real positive influence within the group he can be and is a more than adequate back up
If we cant get a good deal for Pope this Window then put him in the shop window by loaning him out and cash in big time in the summer

Re: Should we loan out Pope
Loan Hart out to a MLS Club from March to October, and reassess in late Summer. If Pope, Hart or Tom are to leave, we'd get better money in the Summer window and Lindergard is more than acceptable as a No.2 for a few months, even in case of injury ....
Sell McNeil for £46m in the summer to fund the Cricket Field stand redevelopment .... job done !!

“ has shown what a great guy he is and what a positive influence in the group he can be” ... not a quote you’d generally hear after the name Joe Hart. I genuinely have no idea if Heaton has been “ beastly “ as a no 2 but I can tell you that I know for a stonewall fact JH has an unbelievable ego and has to be the most unpopular teammate ( prior to Burnley ) you could ever imagine, his arrogance at Man City beggared belief, not to say he’s not had a great career though and still is a top notch keeper ... but “ great guy”....Devils_Advocate wrote:Id sell Pope as im sure we could get a real fee off a team like Spurs.

If we could loan with a recall yes.
If we could sell for £25m plus no. Sell him.
Failing that keep him for next August and see what pans out.
He was fantastic last season. But it may well be a one off!

You'd sell him for £25 mil? In today's market that would be an absolute steal for the buying club. £50 million, maybe.cricketfieldclarets wrote:If we could loan with a recall yes.

Seen countless interviews with City players and the young England lads who all sing Harts praises for what a great influence he was on them. Just the other month John Stones was interviewed on Soccer AM and talked about how Hart takes the young players under his wing at City and England and that he still keeps a note Hart wrote for him when he left the club and that he was massive in helping him settle down after his tricky startcricketfieldclarets wrote:You obviously didnt see him post match saturday.

Big Joe has plenty of cheerleaders who will paint a wonderful “ uncle joe”picture ( not quite the Lewis Hamilton fan boy level but still ) and after a long career I’m sure there’s plenty of good stuff as well . People tore him apart in here on ability which was utter bullsh1te but I’m referring simply to his ego at Man City, I’d love to tell a couple of stories but it’s not the time or place . Here he is in Greece though with my son so it’s not all badDevils_Advocate wrote:Seen countless interviews with City players and the young England lads who all sing Harts praises for what a great influence he was on them. I’m sure the club want to know for certain that Pope is really fit and completely recovered from that nasty injury before they consider loaning him out.

Heaton has earner the right to the shirt, based on circumstances. He has been outstanding. However, for me, Nick Pope is the club’s best keeper. We need him going forward and his time will come, but as I say: for now, the shirt quite rightly is the skip’s!

My best mate suggested loaning Pope our on the Turf last weekend. Most didn’t agree but with a clause to bring him back straight away if needed as mentioned above- it could work.

Keep him hes our number 2 keeper pushing Heaton all the way. The other keepers need to fight it out for whos number 3 off current form.
