Re: My bank called earlier...
I had a call saying it was Natwest the other day and there was some anomolies in my banking ... I asked how I would know it was really them.
He said did I have caller ID and I said yes.
He said did I see a certain number and I said yes I did but the number he gave me that was on the screen was the Santander number. (I also bank with Santander and know the number as its the number I use for telephone banking lol)
I pointed out it wasn't the Natwest number but a different bank and the phoneline went dead.
The scumbag scammers can clone phone numbers and beat BT caller ID. If their fruit loop call centre used their brains they might have scammed me.
I eang BT and complained about this and they are not interested but are trying to find ways of stopping it.
I then rang Santander and they said they would never use that particular number to ring out on so have blocked it.
Be very careful out there people

Re: My bank called earlier...
Does any bank ever ring a customer up?
Re: My bank called earlier...
Sainsbury's credit card ring you up. I went to America last year and rang to tell them where I was going so they wouldn't block the card; they said there was no need to do that any more, they would use usual protocols.
So I landed in the States, went to the hotel, and handed it in for the registration - and it was rejected. Sainsbury had blocked it because of "suspicious activity" - and they rang me at home to see if I was in America.

The economy is about to enter a retractionary period. The banks know this and are being very cautious.

HMRC wrote to me to tell me my tax return was 'outstanding'.
It's very kind of them, but I can't even remember sending it in.

Yes, Lloyds Business definitely do.Pimlico_Claret wrote:Does any bank ever ring a customer up?
The thing that gets me is that they phone me and then ask me to identify myself, when in reality it's they who should prove their ID.
Re: My bank called earlier...
Find the Halifax very good for this.
Any thing not normal or a large amount they stop the transaction and ring with an automated system for you to confirm .
No issues with them.
Have had a few so called calls from BT which are scammers.
One even tried to bollock me when I told them they wasn't BT, brilliant.
Contacted BT about it and had a couple of proper calls from their fraud department. Again couldn't fault them.

Once had a call from tesco card credit on a Sunday night asking if I'd just ordered a dominos and something off amazon as it was out of character spending. I said no and the bloke said your card has been blocked and I will need to get in touch with tesco to sort a new one. Good service.

Reminds me of a school report saying I had outstanding homeworks. I took it as a compliment.dougcollins wrote:HMRC wrote to me to tell me my tax return was 'outstanding'.
