Oh boy. The trigger-kittens are really upset at their latest advert.

NorthJersey908 T_D writes: "**** #Gillette. Corporations should have no public political stance and should STFU about social issues. They are NOT "influencers of culture" they make ******* razor blades."
Prometheus Unhinged thinks that this is a "**** you" to their customers: "No wonder they feel so free to say "**** you" to their customers."
Dave Nickerson knows who's really behind this attack on men (((spoiler, it's the jews))): "Hmmm, everyone’s talking about that new Gillette ad that attacks ‘toxic masculinity’ & portrays white men as sexist pigs & non-white men as heroes. John Rivers with an entirely normal and not at all unhinged take: "Hi, we're Gillette, we hate men and want White People to die. Buy our razors, you rapist white trash ****. Thx!"

Re: Gillette
It is an ad. It has got people talking so it’s done it’s Jon. But I felt it was racist. Too many scene of bad white guys and good nonwhite guys. If you switched the ethnicity around I think there would be uproar mainly from the people defending the ad now.
Re: Gillette
It's pretty pathetic that people are trying ti distract from the obviously good message the ad is intending with this bullshit, but one of the first spoken lines by people in the advert is a black guy saying "boys will be boys".andyh wrote:It is an ad. The ad wasn't racist, and anyone who thinks it is is bending over backwards to criticise an anti-sexism, anti-sexual harassment, anti-sexual assault video that has nothing to do with race. I can only imagine why people would do that.

I heard the term "manhunt" used yesterday several times.
People everywhere presuming the sex of someone without even knowing the facts.
It really is time we rid of all this sexism in our media.

I think everything and everything should be equal.
There's no room for any discrimination in this world.

I used to work with the police and their rule was if someone thought something was racist it was treated as such.
Should all ads be given the "it isn't what the advertiser meant" treatment? I've also sat in advertising meetings and that ad will have been examined 100s of times and the content disected. It will have been a decision to go ahead even though it is very lobsided in terms of race and positive and negative imagery. They may not have set out with that as a goal but it will have been pointed out before it went public.
Racism cuts both ways, intention is not really part of the discussion.

My test is always switch it around and would it be a problem. (That is why baa baa black sheep isn't racist.)
I'd be saying it was racist if they switched the ethnic origin of the actors in the ad. So to me it is racist.

Re: Gillette
I have to admit that I haven't looked at it closely enough to draw that sort of conclusion but then again I rarely see stuff that people tell me is racist against whites.
I don't know what that makes me, but I have to admit being pretty comfortable with it.

It certainly 'triggered' a good number of 'snowflakes'.
With the razor advert and the vegan sausage roll from Greggs, it's been a tough start to 2019 for the precious ones.

Re: Gillette
Remember it's a continuation of and only slight alteration of "The Best a Man Can Get"
Didn't offend me at all.
Thought there was a fair range of skin colour, although a shame there was no white skin on display - albinos sadly lacking. More men portrayed in a good light than bad and those being told off from a range of demographics.
I agree companies selling products shouldn't get involved in social issues as they're just cynically profiteering off of it, a bit like Vodafone Australia trying to comment on Australian cricket with Steve Smith and "Everyone makes mistakes" cashing in on mental health issues.

You started a thread with a video link I'd not previously seen. (Maybe you were triggered by the responses you'd seen)
I thought it was racist.
I'm not crying about it. I think it is good advertising. However I still think it is racist.
That is an opinion not a rant. I don't want it banned. I'm not suggesting boycotting products.
I do think the weird thing is that some people who are defending it would decry it if it was reversed.
There is a new breed of racist, one that only sees things one way. True non-racists are not anti-white they are pro diversity.

Look again at the amount of each. The number of toxic white males far exceeds the non white males. The number of positive non white males exceeds the white males.

Re: Gillette
Just got round to watching this and I've got to be honest I was expecting a lot more weighting towards white man=evil, non-white man=good.
I just quickly tallied it up as I was watching;
Scenes showing white men behaving badly = 5
Scenes showing non-white men behaving badly = 4
Scenes showing white men behaving well = 2
Scenes showing non-white men behaving well = 4
Are the easily-offended looking for something that isn't there?

But your view is based on nothing more than some (very) slighly different numbers. And for clarity, if the number's were reversed I'd still have no problem with it, and more tellingly, neither would you.
