Big Screens
Big Screens
I see the club has tweeted about the end panels of the stands been moved so folk can see the big screens.
The bloke behind me will be happy, then again he will complain about the wind and rain or the angle of the screen.

Don't like sound of that, I would rather be warm/dry than getting a better view of the big screen. I see it as a perk of sitting in an upper tier.

Re: Big Screens
They have to remove them or people in the new disabled corner won't be able to see all the pitch, club have previously said that's the reason, not so people can see the screen. I'm with you though, preferring to keep warm and dry and I've no interest in looking at the screen.jedi_master wrote:Don't like sound of that, I would rather be warm/dry than getting a better view of the big screen. Could they not just replace the panels with new see through ones then everyone is happy.

I wouldn’t be happy - the glare when looking over from the CFS will be horrible for the 2 games a season we have sunshine.karatekid wrote:Could they not just replace the panels with new see through ones then everyone is happy.

Anti reflection material similar to that on high rise buildings would do the trick.

Sounds logical. Also note the structural beams will have to stay to hold the roof up - which will make it look a little half finished..karatekid wrote:Could they not just replace the panels with new see through ones then everyone is happy.

Re: Big Screens
Vision is everything when stuck in a corner as its hard enough to see the otherside of the pitch but surely it only needs taking down so far as the roof of the new build finishes half way up the top tier
Olympiacos was very impaired vision in that corner looking through perspex then in front of that the netting that came down full height of the stand
Then theres always the corner view at QPR

I'll withdraw this comment, they are removing them higher up. I'm thankful I don't sit anywhere near them.ClaretTony wrote:They have to remove them or people in the new disabled corner won't be able to see all the pitch, club have previously said that's the reason, not so people can see the screen. Every time I seem to glance up for some relevant info all I seem to get nine times out of ten are poxy adverts, so not bothered about them now.
Re: Big Screens
Depends how far they move them back, but won't the screen itself offer a degree of protection from the elements? It does go all the way across. Plus I don't think the wind tends to come in from that direction anyway.ClaretTony wrote:I'll withdraw this comment, they are removing them higher up. I'm thankful I don't sit anywhere near them.

"SQUARE PEG, ROUND HOLE" springs to mind. You would hope the gaps will be filled following the screen erection to finish it off correctly.

All depends on cost. If it's purely to look nice and to ogfer the fans a bit more protection it'll be a no go.snail12345 wrote:"SQUARE PEG, ROUND HOLE" springs to mind. You would hope the gaps will be filled following the screen erection to finish it off correctly.
However if it can make money as an advertising point as it'll be seen a lot with people looking that way, then they may go for it.
We know fans a way down on the list of priorities, especially where making or saving money is concerned.
Re: Big Screens
Yes, absolutely no fans will benefit from the building of the new disables facilities. And the way the club have fleeced us by consistently putting up season ticket and programme prices is nothing short of a disgrace.MACCA wrote:All depends on cost. Yes but look at the price of a twix.
The same twix that is available in 100s of shops and a lot cheaper, but rather than get one elsewhere some would prefer to moan and go without.

They'd need some pretty big windscreen wipers for these panels to keep them see-through, in the unlikely event of a wet day!karatekid wrote:Could they not just replace the panels with new see through ones then everyone is happy.

Re: Big Screens
Less panels in the way. it could be suspended about 3m in front of the profile of the stand at the same height.
The big factor really is where they stick the other screen. If they are going to have it on top of the Bob Lord then its a moot point really

But in principle I do agree. Telly, no telly, positioning of telly.. whatever they do you can 100% guarantee it'll get moaned about.
Who goes to football to look at some big adverts anyway?

Yes they will, hense why the premier league have made it compulsory.martin_p wrote:Yes, absolutely no fans will benefit from the building of the new disables facilities. We are only a little bit behind the deadline, but that can't be helped, they have come across some unforseen problems .
My season ticket hasn't gone up for ages, however I don't know about programmes as I haven't bought one for years.
Other than that, cool story bro

Just put screens behind the 'tv screen' from jhu to jimmy mac stand, will keep wind/rain out and noise/atmosphere in .

I had heard they were issuing Bob Lord Stylee travel rugs to supporters who feel cold. I also hear, but as yet not confirmed that all seats in JHU are to be modified and made to swivel as many fans are suffering from cricks in their necks with turning their heads to look at the screen.jedi_master wrote:Don't like sound of that, I would rather be warm/dry than getting a better view of the big screen. So the none increase in season ticket is doing the fans a benefit, so what is the price hikes in 90% of every other area of BFC, the new found charges and money making excercises called?
A big thanks to the theives in the area that didn't choose to rob my home, they are doing something to benefit me after all.

Re: Big Screens
How is not putting season ticket prices up not doing something for the fans ?
Have a look at the interest some clubs charge for those who can't pay for their ticket in 1 lump sum compared to our no fee, would you class that as doing something for the fans ?

In a Simon Cowell voice, I don't like it, I love it.dsr wrote:You really don't like the club, do you?
It's the decision makers/powers that be, that I don't have much time for.
I think they are alienating more fans away than they are introducing/keeping them these days.
Some people think they make all the right calls
Some think they are as much good things as bad
Some think they get quite a bit wrong and could do a lot better with regards to the treatment of the club's supporters.
Yes I am in the latter category, If that means I don't like the club in your eyes, then fair enough.
Re: Big Screens
Can't we get ones which hang from the top of the stands?

I think its great that they dont charge as much as Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and probably 90% of the other premier league teams.
The season ticket price is a good go to for how the club does a lot for our fans, but taking away that great gesture of not putting them up year after year like the rest, there's very little else they do IMO.

It was almost a full house. But I remember the days, before 2009 when the police had to keep fans from encroaching onto the field and kids climbing the floodlights just to get a glimpse of the mighty John Spicer.
You think its full these days, you couldn't move back then. Thats before the board alienated the supporters though.

All that bile is really going to start to mess with your insides. The only cost you have to pay (that BFC have control of) is the entrance fee, anything else is optional. If you think the cost of a twix or a pint is too high then don’t pay it.MACCA wrote:Oh yes, I forgot if something doesn't so what is the price hikes in 90% of every other area of BFC, the new found charges and money making excercises called?

Re: Big Screens
Surely we should be looking to box the entire corner in aonthat the screen is within the stadium, and the weather is kept out?
Also, wouldn’t it be easier to just move the screen around a bit?
Lastly, the floor of the upper tier of the disable section will prevent anybody below row 12-13 of the upper Longside from block 6-9 being able to see the clock anyway.

Re: Big Screens
Well you're wrong as I have the same option of attending, just the same as I have whether or not I buy a twix or a pint ( I sometimes get a bovril and/or a bottle of pop for the boy, and if super desperate I get a pie, but that's very rare )martin_p wrote:All that bile is really going to start to mess with your insides. I'm aware of the choices people have, I'm just saying I think the club could be a lot better with fans

That corner is about two thirds less exposed than it was, don’t know what people are worrying about.
