How? What are they doing that irks you so?MACCA wrote:Well you're wrong as I have the same option of attending, just the same as I have whether or not I buy a twix or a pint ( I sometimes get a bovril and/or a bottle of pop for the boy, and if super desperate I get a pie, but that's very rare )
I'm aware of the choices people have, I'm just saying I think the club could be a lot better with fans

I Didn't liken them to theives, was just using that analogy.
I'm just as greatful to the club for not putting up my ticket every year, as I am to the theives that don't rob my house. They both benefit me massively with their kindness and appreciation.
And a quick shout out to the local landlord for not putting up the price of my pint every month, you also do a lot to benefit me. I appreciate all these great things that happen to benefit me. We are a very lucky bunch at BFC

Got to dash now, we'll speak again soon about some other garbage no one actually cares about I'm sure.

Re: Big Screens
Someone needs to go to analogy school! Someone not breaking the law isn’t analogous to someone not doing something they are perfectly entitled to do. Your landlord analogy is a better attempt, although I suspect the price of a pint has gone up a few times since the last time season tickets went up.MACCA wrote:I Didn't liken them to theives, was just using that analogy.

Well I certainly don’t care about it. Seems to bother you quite a lot though. So nothing to back up your opinion then? No real surprise.MACCA wrote:Got to dash now, we'll speak again soon about some other garbage no one actually cares about I'm sure.

Rain tends to fall from the sky and blow in rather than up from the ground, so those in that side of the top tier are going to be more exposed.martin_p wrote:That corner is about two thirds less exposed than it was, don’t know what people are worrying about.

Re: Big Screens
Are they taking away the front vertical support on each stand too? Seems like it would weaken the roof(s)
Re: Big Screens
They have replaced the one in the McIlroy stand (by the looks) with an upgraded one ... so you would think they are going to do the same in the JH stand.CharlieinNewMexico wrote:Are they taking away the front vertical support on each stand too? Seems like it would weaken the roof(s)
I am sure they will have done the loadings under Building Regs

Well you might think that... But I can confirm that it was 'raining-upwards' on the front few rows of the CFS last Saturday... A very specific turf Moor phenomenon...Claretforever wrote:Rain tends to fall from the sky and blow in rather than up from the ground, so those in that side of the top tier are going to be more exposed.

I’m surprised such a design wasn’t put forward. As it is, it’ll just look unfinished and a bit of an opportunity lost to properly close in a corner.Dyched wrote:Something like they’ve done at The Hawthorns would look great

Re: Big Screens
Surely they are going to box it all in when they have finished, it’s going to look daft and unfinished otherwise, Does anyone know if barnfield have any expertise or experience in stadia design

Not sure why Barnfield would have any experience in stadia design. They’re building it not designing it.Turfytop wrote:Surely they are going to box it all in when they have finished, it’s going to look daft and unfinished otherwise, Does anyone know if barnfield have any expertise or experience in stadia design
If you want to see what the stands will look like then you can look at the planning drawings at the following link;

With a bit of photoshopping I suspect they'll look like this when removed.

Cheers, my personal opinion, it just looks like they are making it up as they go along hoping for best, probably look a lot better when it’s finished tho, hopefully
Re: Big Screens
I wonder if it would look better with either side of the screen filled in as well?

Haha I know, but the screen and side bits of the stand seem to be an afterthought

No expense spared, and will be a fantastic addition worthy of a record profit making premier league outfit.

Well the screen on the north-east corner is shown on the plans which were drawn in February last year so clearly not an afterthought.Turfytop wrote:Haha I know, but the screen and side bits of the stand seem to be an afterthought

Last season this would of been a great view as we only ever scored in that net, but this year we're scoring in the CF end as well.

That would massively increase the wind loading for not much gain - they'd be better putting up a long one of those multi-coloured strip curtains that everyone had at their front door in summer in the 60s to keep flies out.Spijed wrote:I wonder if it would look better with either side of the screen filled in as well?
That would stop the rain but could move with the wind !!

Re: Big Screens
There’s a good update on the stadium developments on the lastest episode of Turf More, although it doesn’t specifically mention the screen.
They want people in the first bit in March and the second stand by the end of the season, but taking a phased approach. Full occupancy at the start of next season.

Possibly being removed in the result of VAR decisions shown on the screen so all fans can see this?
