Classic kit

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Fri Jan 18, 2019 1:08 pm

Apparently Arsenal will revert back to this absolute classic next season.

How good would it be if we dug out the ribeiro!?

Ribero kit was horrible
The adidas quartered shirt was also rubbish....i was gutted because when we had adidas we had a great opportunity to design an absolute classic and we mucked it up coming up with a bast-ard rovers replica !

Would love us to do something to replicate our brilliant V strip and another classic one would be the simple claret "frank casper" crew neck.

I like to see us in the 73 kit with BFC instead of the badge blue cuffs and blue band for the collar
Loved that strip

1994, commemorative Wembley shirt I think.

Surely the Green and Black Half shirt was terrible... I cannot remember us winning away in it.

Image

It might be a false memory ... but I seem to remember a team arriving without their kit for some reason .. and they wore that kit, and we beat them

That's the one. They were horrific to look at when you had a hangover. My missus threw mine away - along with the 1993-94 Mitre shirt, the 2000 promotion shirt and some classic Iron Maiden tour t-shirts - by going to one of those places where they weigh in the clothes.

Remarkably, we're still married.

Gets mentioned every now and then on here. I think it was Southend and I think they were top of the league at the time. Think it was 4/5 - 0 to us.

We had an away kit that was yellow with black stripes at one point. Think it was the season back in the Championship after we beat Stockport at Wembley. 94/95 maybe?

It was definitely Southend and we beat them 5-1. I think they turned up with their red away kit and the ref wouldn't let them use it. So we gave them the green and black kit (which was the previous season's 1993-94 away kit; the 1994-95 kit was yellow with black stripes).

Love the Aresnal kit in the opening post - reminds me of the 'good old days'! I can picture Ian Wright and David Rocastle in it now!

Our '92 Ribero home kit wasn't a nice kit...but was synonymous with an incredible season. I had all 3 kits that season as an 11 year old - really liked the away kits actually.

The yellow and black one was 1994 95. Classic kit that would still look good now. Remember getting the full kit for my birthday and playing out in it despite it being winter and then going to a reserves match in it.

I loved the jade and black one. Even if we were awful in it.

The limited edition yellow one was awful. We didnt even wear it thank god.

My favourite top from recent decades was the one from the Kevin Ball era, the one with no sponsors logo on.

I maybe wrong but think the limited edition kit was meant to be the away kit for the following season. Mitre produced a good number before the design was turned down by the club. The yellow and black striped kit was then made as an alternative but wasn’t available to but until a good few months into the season.

Agreed about the 'V' strip, best by far to me, made us look a bit continental or South American. And what brain dead fool thought up the quartered strip that made us look like a Claret version of Rovers? That was truly dreadful and an insult to fans.

I seem to remember us winning away at York in an FA Cup replay in that kit.

The limited edition kit had red writing embroidered on the sleeve as well.

I must be the only one who still really likes it! Wish mine didn’t have to go in the bin, although it wouldn’t fit as I was only 13 at the time.

The Spall away kit from when we were promoted to division two in the 80s

White shirt with a Claret v-neck and Sky Blue pinstripes. We wore it once in a 3-0 away defeat to Barnsley before we reverted to the classic all Yellow kit with Claret and Blue trim to the front shoulder area

Yes, I bought one! I was wearing it when I took my 10 year old son to Dean Court and saw us win 2-0. I've looked it up and it was 14th October 1995 and Chris Vinnicombe and Kurt Nogan scored the goals. Easily spotted myself when they showed the goal on South Today, as I was the only bugger jumping up and down clad in yellow and black.

UTC

Edit - mine wasn't the limited edition one - just plain old yellow and black stripes.

It's not from our club unfortunately but this Company do what I like in terms of original design and Cotton material which is better next to the skin and so much more comfortable.
