Matthew Lowton
Matthew Lowton
Can anyone explain his apparent loss of form this season? He has been an excellent right back who made a significant contribution to last year's success. His game has continually improved throughout his time with us.
I have no idea why but he seems to have lost his focus and concentration which has led to him losing his no.1 right back position.
Apart from his obvious defensive skills he can provide very effective through balls and crosses to relieve defensive pressure and I genuinely hope he can get his game back on track.
p.s. no disrespect to Phil Bardsley who has been brilliant since his return to the first team.

Re: Matthew Lowton
All our players have to be 100% at it to perform to Premier league standards and even then need their team mates help.
You only have to drop down 5% and it can show massively.

Re: Matthew Lowton
It wasn't just Lowts, the whole team dropped. He seems to have paid the price, where others haven't, because in Bardsley we had an excellent replacement with an attitude the team was crying out for.
Lowts biggest fault was he kept turning back to the half way line when in a good position to cross the ball. the whole team has played that way, so negatively, since we didn't get the results we deserved against Southampton and Watford.
I'm sure when he gets another chance, with the team now looking to run at the opposition, and deliver that ball into the box at an early opportunity, that we will see the old Lowts back again. Barnsley has been excellent since he came in though, so it could be a while yet.

Doesn’t he play for Burnsley?Colburn_Claret wrote:Barnsley has been excellent since he came in though, so it could be a while yet.
There’s enough confusion already without bringing Phil into this.

I like Lowts, hope he gets his mojo back.
Re: Matthew Lowton
He's only 29 so if it's just a temporary loss of form he should hit his prime over the next few years.

Nail on the head, it’s because Joe wasn’t telling him how to defend like Heaton & Pope doMRG wrote:I believe that it is Joe Harts fsult

Burnley are back, so all players and subs now automatically play well, within the structure of the team.
