Back to our old selves

Post by Spijed » Sat Jan 19, 2019 5:01 pm

Based on the last few performances there are plenty of points to be had.

And only two goals conceded in the last five matches.

Very much agree.

We look solid, dogged and resolute - and created enough good chances to have scored at least two for certain (McNeil’s volley and the incorrect offside against Wood).

Heaton imperious again, what a difference he has made, quickly off his line to shut down two attacks where Watford went through and fantastic with the one on one after 2 minutes.

We played well all through the team today.
Lots of high mark performances. Just couldn't score.
We've still a fight on to stay up, but I'm feeling more confident now than after the Everton game.

Excellent performance, but we have to start putting some of these chances away.

"Back to our old selves"

Exactly what I said. Should have won but have got a well deserved point. We just look more solid, Ben Mee back to what we are used to. Wood brilliant up front. Westwood pulling the strings again and having the pleasure of a player like McNeil in our side is fantastic. Heaton, whatever he has over the rest of the team but, bloody hell, he makes such a difference.

I'm not saying we will definitely stop up but I feel we will have enough having seen what we have over these last five games.

Agreed, especially the two Barnes chances in the first half (suspicion of handball for one, mind) but you could also say Wood took his chance just for it to be incorrectly disallowed. As you say, excellent performance. :)

The lad has been excellent but not even close today. You must have a hard on for him.

A very good result.Vicarage Rd is always a difficult place to come. With a bit more composure in front of goal we could have won it

We’ve still got quite a few miles of undergrowth to hack through before we’re safe, but the signs are looking good.

Charlie Taylor has done enough recently to now be first choice. He works well with Dwight whereas Ward works well with Brady. We have a new left side for me.

I thought Tarks absolutely dommed Deeney. Remember the last couple of years Deeney has had header after header against us. Tarks was imperious yesterday.

Great all-round performance yes and credit to Barnes to be in those positions but a bit poor on the finish. I wouldn't say a suspicion of handball though, if it had been any more handball he would have picked it up and run it over the line. ;)
