Re: Parking at Old Trafford
Last time I went with a mate who's a season ticket holder at OT. He parks at the cricket ground. It was really easy to get in and out of in terms of the M60. Not sure about local pubs, as we were 5 mins late due to chaos on the M62.

Re: Parking at Old Trafford
Doesn't the cricket ground open for football fans with away fans welcome?
The only time I have been in the car we parked near media city. About 15 minutes walk but quite easy to get back on the Salford motorway. Pubs available in the Lowry centre.

There's Hilti's main office right on the doorstep, I park there...its a tenner but very handy.

You can park at the Trafford centre and there is a bus station there. Drops off outside old Trafford. I’d recommend walking back though - never seen a bus after matches.
Re: Parking at Old Trafford
Park in the multi storey next to the Lowry. It's just a short walk over the bridge and up to the ground.

Media City, multi story by the Holiday Inn, very quick out post match, lots of bars on the walk through the Lowry.

Over the bridge, turn left. Ten minute walk. Get there early to secure a parking space. Security can hold up getting into the ground. Take plenty of money if you want a drink or a pie inside OT. Makes the turf seem cheap.

Media City is a good shout.
However, for the adventurous you can aim for Cornbrook Road off the A56 Chester road. There is a scrap metal merchant there and he opens his gates on matchdays which allows you to follow a track and park near Pomona tram stop, ie 2 minutes away from the ground.
I work nearby and have seen cars coming out after the game and they are well ahead of any traffic
Just search Cornbrook Metro station and you will see how it works

Re: Parking at Old Trafford
Does anyone know any good parking spots near etihad for a quick getaway after game on Saturday? Am thinking of taking the Bury Lincoln game in on way home.. utc
Re: Parking at Old Trafford
I only went once and parked on the road in a housing estate. Just a close and it was just across some green space. I could see the ground easily.

No matter where you park I think you'll struggle to get to Bury for 5.30pm.

Re: Parking at Old Trafford
Pay and display parking by the Matchstick Man. Decent little pub (my local). Media City also has a big multi story car park and a few pubs round the corner - highly recommend Dockyard they have a good range of drinks.
Re: Parking at Old Trafford
For the Etihad i usually park on Clayton Lane just south of the Bridge Inn, walk up Croft St and left on the tram lines.
Never driven to OT or the Lowry / Media City. Is the multi storey at the shops the best for parking then. Got youngsters with me so don't want to drag them through any dodgy areas at 10pm

That’s a hell of a long journey for the Etihad isn’t it?ashtonlongsider wrote:Yes another for Media City. Also using for Saturday and catching the tram out to Etihad.

Not really, it's only about 25 minutes direct on the Met, and you'll probably get a seat.ClaretTony wrote:That’s a hell of a long journey for the Etihad isn’t it?

Re: Parking at Old Trafford
That’s not so bad. We’ve always parked at Ashton Moss for City. The only problem is the tram getting stuck in the traffic after the game.ChrisG wrote:Not really, it's only about 25 minutes direct on the Met, and you'll probably get a seat.
Re: Parking at Old Trafford
I go straight down the M60 pass the Trafford Centre, take junction 7 left towards Stretford, right at the roundabout onto Chester Road, pass the shopping mall through the lights then left into Derbyshire Lane .. park anywhere on there or the street behind to the right .. when you park cut through the side of the school and up Davyhulme Road then follow the main (Chester Road) up to the ground .. When you get back to the car carry on down Derbyshire turn left onto Park Road (A5181) and it takes you straight back to junction 7 of the M60 (3 or 4 minutes ) ..

Re: Parking at Old Trafford
It's far rougher around the estates at Man City than Old Trafford to Media City.bfcpete wrote:For the Etihad i usually park on Clayton Lane just south of the Bridge Inn, walk up Croft St and left on the tram lines.

There will only be football traffic around at that time.

Re: Parking at Old Trafford
If anyone is using the Metrolink, be aware that the pricing structure has changed since a week last Sunday. All based on zones now so you have to purchase a ticket that covers all the zones you travel through. Day tickets are similar and cheaper than they were.
The one saving is if you are travelling into the city and back out again on another line. Same price as just travelling in or out because you use the same zones.
There are four zones but most are within zones 1 to 3.
