Vincent Janssen
Re: Vincent Janssen
I'd be over the moon if we signed him for 12m. Great potential, good pedigree, went to a big club that he wasn't quite suited for and is now available at a snip. The Eredivisie has nurtured and produced some amazing strikers, I hope there's some truth in it.

Re: Vincent Janssen
Pochettino today on Janssen
"I think it's so clear that now it's one year and a half that he's not in our plans," he said. "He's not in Tottenham's plans. Not in just the manager's plans but the club's plan.
"Eighteen months ago we took the decision for him to try to find a different place to play because for different reasons it didn't work. That happens in football.
"It's not a personal problem, it's about the professional side. For different reasons that professional relationship isn't working and we need to find a solution. We are trying to find the resolution.
"He got the injury months ago and we're helping him, trying to find the right place for him to feel again like a player and play football."

Re: Vincent Janssen
You have got to wonder based on that why they signed him....not in any plans for 18 months....basically means they think there was zero chance of him ever improving enough to get anywhere near even the bench.
Pochettino does not seem like the type of manager who is unfair, falls out with players and writes them off so it maybe something deeper about his attitude.
Or of course....he thinks he’s just sh-ite !!

Re: Vincent Janssen
“He got the injury months ago”. What injury and how fit is he?
Re: Vincent Janssen
He was out of the plan before that.
Re: Vincent Janssen
Starts for their u23’s tonight.
Re: Vincent Janssen
It would be barmy to shell out any money until he's proved himself, a loan deal surely?
Re: Vincent Janssen
Was a goal machine in Holland. He’s got to be worth a look.

Re: Vincent Janssen
That sounds like it'd be a sensible approach. Would be crazy to spend £12-£15m on a striker with such a poor goalscoring record in the top flight. Plus we need to remember that he would have received a lot more service at Spurs than he'd be likey to get at a team like ours.beddie wrote:It would be barmy to shell out any money until he's proved himself, a loan deal surely?

Re: Vincent Janssen
What would be barmy is buying this guy whilst not giving a chance to someone who has proven himself in the second tier of English football and who we have alrsddy bought and are paying for.

Re: Vincent Janssen
Come now fellow Clarets, we have been down this road many times, agents simply love Burnley at this time of year. We are a club who everyone could out bid, in fees and wages other lower half teams are put on red alert as soon as it appears little old Burnley may be getting a player with a bit of pedigree. They come in with a better offer and off you pop.

Re: Vincent Janssen
For 12m we could do a lot worse. He certainly has the quality. Maybe he needs to take a step back in order to get his career back on track. He would certainly be an upgrade on vokes/wood/vydra (although that's perhaps a bit unfair on the otter as he hasn't been given a chance)

Re: Vincent Janssen
Lets be honest here, no one has a clue if he's good enough or not.
My only concern is that Poch is one the best managers around, and his players work their socks off, and he's not interested in giving him a chance.

Re: Vincent Janssen
People were saying similar about ings before the Southampton move. Sometimes we have to take a risk and 12 is a pretty low one.

Re: Vincent Janssen
Pochettino was on the news yesterday saying the club and agent have been trying to get rid of him for the last 18 months so you’ve got to assume we’re a million miles away on the wages. It’ll never happen. China’s a massive influence now for players. A relegation battle in Burnley for 4/5 million (over 3 years) or 15million over there.
Re: Vincent Janssen
no thanks!
Re: Vincent Janssen
you pays your money and takes your chance, plenty of high profile/high cost failure throughout every team. Plenty of low cost players have come good, we've had a few of both, notably T Heaton on free with a lot of doom and gloom on here regarding him coming in. For this one it's a chance, lot of fanfare before moving to PL and look what happened, sometimes it is a change in manager/team/country and feeling good and wanted that can trigger a player to becoming a fan favorite.
For me I can not see us getting another "potential" goal scorer for this so called price, although we will probably low ball until 31 Jan but I would like to see in in Claret and Blue playing for us, loan or buy but from what I've read he is not interested in a loan so even if that is preferable to check the goods first I think it's doubtful.
Maybe our style of play and wingers trying to throw the ball in from wide with a strong target man to feed off just might suit him down to the ground. No team with a decent striker are looking to offload for this kind of price and we might be able to recoup most or more of the funds required by selling one of our front men.
