24 days No signing

Is this the longest we have ever gone in a January transfer window without making a signing?

Sure feels like it.

It is a very tough window is the January transfer window.

I'd rather us save our cash than pay over the odds for a bench warmer, or waste 10m on a panic buys to fill a few roles, which proves a total waste of money.

If they are not capable of nailing down a first team spot, or at very least capable of getting a run of games and doing well, then I'd save the cash.

Stick with the lads that has served us well, post a profit and keep season tickets down for us.
Benefits everyone involved then.

And if you sign anyone before 31st January you obviously hate football and should be relegated anyway. What's the point of DEADLINE DAY!! if you sign someone on Thursday 24th. Nobody's watching SSN today.

I just presumed this week would be the best time to sell the dream of playing for Burnley to any foreign player.
Man City and Man Utd away within a few days should be a big selling point to them.

As long as you are Dyche fit when you arrive :)

Yes, but not many are good enough.

Second best option is to play at the ground.

Is Dyche fit a myth or what?

We certainly don't have fittest team or the fastest players.

Dyche fit is a mental strength too - possibly the most difficult too achieve consistently - we are only just starting to get there this season

I think Dyche fit was term used to describe the time needed for Dyche to knock all the creativity and flair out of a player before trusting him to play within his negative defensive framework

We really are behind when it comes to transfers. Especially january.

At least its not as bad as the days when not only could we not sign in January we were losing Akinbiyi, Blake and Chaplow etc.

Will never understand how the club cant see how important it is to get bodies in early.

We've made a great signing this window in securing McNeil on a long term deal.

We've done some great business by getting some young lads out on loan.

Also if we keep the squad together, it's been a good window all round.

With season ticket renewals coming up, if they are frozenagain too, it will have been a great season for all.

The great need for signings was in the summer when faced with Europa, injuries, cups and league. I’d rather we wait until the summer unless it’s a true first-teamer that adds to what we have UTC

It feels like the club completely shuts down when the windows are closed. Then bang!! Transfer window reopens and their all starring at one another in bemusement. “What now Sean?”. “Errr dun know”.

We certainly do have a fit team, agreed on fastest players however..

Got to remember that there is a trade off between pace and endurance as well - can't have both!

The last time I looked the English Premier had about 70% foreigners playing in it. Far more than any other league in Europe!

Why do you think that is?

There are shed loads of European players desperate to play in the land of milk and honey and quite a few of them are decent and available if you look at comparable teams to us.

Brady will also be like a new signing when he returns from his ban.
McNeil is like a new signing cos he wasn't in the team last year......
Heaton is like a new signing coming back into the team after a long absence
Pope will be like a new signing when he's back to full fitness and in the starting 11....
Defour will be lke a new signing when he plays his 1 game in every 4...

Therefore thats like having 6 new signings which will be a record for Burnley in a January transfer window and there's still 6.5 days to go.

I am going to the Algarve for a week's holiday shortly and thought I would try and take in a game at Portimonense, a Ligue 1 team based in Portimao. They are mid table in the league, even so they only have 4 Portugese players on their roster, the majority are from Brazil

The fact that we have McNeil on the left, Hendrick on the right, playing very well, means we suddenly have additional quality on the wings that we didn't have a few weeks ago.

Stick Gibson in midfield ship out the crocks and we can spend the next 4 seasons worry free.

I honestly can't see what the urgency is as the question of new players is about their quality first and last, and a) that's if we want anyone . b) That their quality is good enough if we do.

No good just signing someone for the sake of it is there as we have seen in previous windows.

Because there is a lot of weird sissy’s about who bang on about transfers this and transfers that over and over and don’t really “get it”.

Luckily the ratio of this type of belmtard in the ground on matchday is about 1 : 5,000.

Almost spot on, except Heaton and Pope can't both be like new signings since we're only allowed one keeper, which is a tad unfortunate. Other than that I can't wait for Defour to do his 1 in 4, 60 minute matches. I just wish we knew in advance which ones they were going to be. I can only assume they only play all matches for an hour in Belgium because there's so many other really interesting things to do.

Possibly because there’s still a very real possibility that we’ll be relegated with the team we currently have.

Now day 25 in the Big Brother House.

Most fans are sleeping but Sean Dyche is 4 hours deep into a phone call with George Boyd.

Sean is expected in the diary room pretty soon.

Watch this space.

You can imagine their Mum's used to dread taking them to the shops. Pity those cursed with the affliction they must have new signings.

Don't let a transfer window ruin the new found optmism everybody. That team currently deserves to be the team.

It transpires that the long conversation between Sean and George was predominantly focussed on male grooming and the benefits of having a world class striker.

It can't have escaped anybodies attention that Ashley Barnes is playing better than ever. This has led some people to speculate that he is experiencing a biblical "Samson" affect. His hair is looking mighty fine these days and it can't be denied that the better his hair looks the better he plays.

After talking to the coaching staff it has been agreed that in order to make the next step up and become world class Ashley needs to grow shoulder length hair and a beard.

Joe Hart was initially consulted, based on his head and shoulders experience, but it was felt that reaching out to an established follicle guru like Boyd was the best way to go to ensure complete development.

Stick with the lads that have served us so well? Have you seen our league position?

We need a striker and a hard-as-nails midfielder ah-la Joey Barton.

As for signing bench warmers we only do that because anyone coming in isn't considered 'Dyche-fit', whatever the hell that is.

I find it extremely amusing that people worry about something over which they have no control whatsoever.
The whole transfer window scenarioa is yet another con, manufactured by the media for their own benefit in the hope that fans will work themselves up into a frenzy over what may or may not be. It certainly seems to work for an inordinate number of people.
It's only a game and que sera sera no matter how much agonising you do over the whole situation. Just relax!

As I keep reminding everyone the problem is not fees - but wages - and not because we are not prepared to pay wages of around £70-80k p/w but because we are only allowed to increase our overall wage bill by a small amount under Premier League rules - unless the additional monies come from commercial income, which for a club like ours is very difficult to grow by the desired amounts. It is also the reason we will continue to post such healthy profits while we remain in the league.

This is why it is impossible for a new benefactor to come into a Premier League Club and splash the cash - the only way to do it now is buy a Championship club - get a promotion and go all guns blazing in the first year (this sets the wages benchmark for subsequent years) and then hope you stay up - This year you have Wolves and Fulham using that approach to markedly different levels of success.

Anyone entertaining the idea that we don’t need signings based on recent results should cast their minds back to the “we finished 7th last season” claptrap we had all throughout the summer window

Of course we should be seriously looking to improve our squad.

Season tickets are frozen again, where transfer fees and wages have gone up. We can't have it both ways.

We are extreamely lucky as fans that the club do so much to luck after us.

Some people want too much.

How much of our overall income does matchday revenue account for?

Looking after us would be adopting Huddersfield’s season ticket prices. We’re not in the championship. We can have it both ways at this level.
