Anyone remember this game?
Burnley v Arsenal 22/3/75
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d-5stuqBcI
I would've been at this game but can't remember it at all, which is surprising looking at how eventful it was.

Rubbish game ---you can't play football on pitches like that and nobody was diving around after the opposition blew on them so it wasn't proper football!
Another thing why it couldn't be real ----we got a penalty!

Re: Anyone remember this game?
My memory of that match was Taffy backheeling a pass over his own head and the inrushing Pat Rices and then haring away leaving Rice wondering where he’d gone. It was first half in front of the longside and we were gobsmacked but when they showed it on telly the next day it looked nothing special, with our low camera angle, from the Bob Lord Stand.
March ‘75 saw us top of the lead and looking to the title before it all went tits up after Boro away.

Wow! That was my second ever Burnley game. I remember standing on the Bee Hole asking my dad what was going on at the far end when we got the late pen - didn’t realise how dodgy it was though!
Also never knew it had been on Kick Off - never seen that film before. Thanks for posting.

If memory serves me right our faint title hopes were dealt a big blow by dropping a point in this game

I didn't realise that Noble and Hankin had ever played together up front.
Who were the Longside singing to **** off in the first half?

Re: Anyone remember this game?
I certainly remember it well as it featured one of my favourite childhood football memories.
I was in the Cricket Field Stand hanging over the tunnel as I did every week and as the Arsenal players came out I landed a piece of Stimorol (for younger viewers - think 'Airwaves') in Brian Kidd's perm. I am still chuckling now at how thrilled this 11 year old was at half time when the players came off and it was still nestled in there.

Well, Alan Ball was playing so that narrows it down.Stan Tastic wrote:I didn't realise that Noble and Hankin had ever played together up front.

Good to see Bob Lord was his usual happy self!

I'm the ballboy covering the section of the longside for away fans. Back of my tracksuit was covered in spit. Dirty Suverners!
