We're allowed penalties in the cup, aren't we? Here's hoping!

He first got on the League list in 2008/9 and refereed 30 matches that season and dismissed 8 players.
His first 6 seasons at this level saw him referee 201 games and he dismissed 51 players!!

He seems to have been a little more tolerant in recent seasons and in the last 4.5 seasons he has refereed 137 games and dismissed 18 players.
He is not an official who fills me with confidence and it will be interesting to see how he does in tomorrow's game.

Not often Ashington is critical of a referee but this bloke made progress by waving cards around like no one's business. I think he's a dreadful referee and still can't quite work out how on earth he got on the Premier League list. At least he won't be on as long as some, he's aged 50 now.

Dreadful in every Burnley game ive seen him involved in.

Is he related to Derek?

You would hope that there is slightly less he can balls up with VAR in play....

It would have been interesting to see how a few other of our games against City would have panned out with VAR.

Off the top of my head Bernardo Silva’s dodgy pen and the offside goal this season....

The Silva pen when he went down like a dying swan to the slightest of slight touches. Will be interesting to see what VAR refs make of touches or sufficient touches to go down.......
