Only what anyone would be expected to feel/say in his or anyones position at any standard in football I would say.

Can’t blame him he’s at the peak of his powers and at the upper end of his career age wise .I think all 3 keepers can say they’ve had terrible luck at one time or other , Pope and Heats injuries , Hart getting cast aside at City etc etc

Training with these 3 together must be absolutely superb with the intensity and quality .Though whether big Joe’s ego will actually ever fit through the door marked “exit” is anyone’s guess

My take on his quote was he was referring to the other goalkeepers - not the outfield players - i can't imagine that Tom is so arrogant to mean anything else - and he is captain

Quite correct he’s reffering to the other 2 keepers all frustrated all desperate to play

Hart couldn’t.

Backstop is in cricket. Heaton’s known as a “goalkeeper”.

People keep going on about Toms age.

He will be 33 in April... for a keeper that is not old.
Speroni (age 39) was in goal for Palace yesterday turning back the clock with age defying saves and a performance of a man 10 years his junior....

Tom is at his peak and has a good few years in him.

I’m all for technology Lancs, but I’m happy to stick with our human keepers (or backstops as you refer to them) for the foreseeable.

Perhaps its a missing words game...

You're dealing with the frustration that you want to play, you feel like *** should be playing, and that's certainly how I ****, and I pretty much know that's how the boys felt" he told

*** = you
**** = felt

You're dealing with the frustration that you want to play, you feel like "you" should be playing, and that's certainly how I "felt", and I pretty much know that's how the boys, felt" he told

Now it scans :D

To me it infers he is saying his team mates felt he should be playing too.

No wonder we found ourselves in the bottom 3 before the West Ham game.

Having watched all but one of those games I would say yes.

As somebody who goes to about 70% of matches and watches the others on a great stream through IPTV I can tell you I have a far better view watching the stream.

When he was fit and Pope was unavailable, he should been first choice again immediately. He hadn't done anything wrong to lose his place

I go to 96.4% of the games but on Saturday wished that I was not at the Etihad but sat by a stream feeding the ducks with a nice bottle of wine in Waddington.

This is a misquote. The actual quote (I’ve watched the interview) clears up what he meant. The last bit is ‘and that’s certainly how I am, and I pretty much know that’s how the boys feel’.

I.e. when you’re out of the team you feel you should be playing and that’s how the rest of the ‘boys’ feel about being out of the team as well.

Was going off what was written in the OP. Listening to the interview though I get what he is saying now about he and the rest of the players get frustrated when they are not playing and just want to be involved.

Ah so certain players weren't deliberately not giving their all because their mate wasn't in goal?

That is the problem with quotes.
It just needs two commas. Before the second “I” and after “how”.

If you watch the interview what he actually said is ‘I think Joes a right **** and so is his wife Miranda and all my mates think so as well’. Or something along those lines. Probably.

There can be snobbery from people who go the game rather than watch it on TV despite them going home and getting a better view on MOTD.

The same snobbery often gets applied to lager drinkers from Real Ale suppers.

I did both and you miss a lot of things being at the game then when watching it on a stream, but also you can't watch individual players on a steam, each to their own and all that.

I and I, One say to the other, no man sees my face and lives.

I wouldn't like to believe it because our manager wouldn't allow it. If he had an inkling then I'm sure them players would've been dropped and none have so..... But in saying that the way players act like spoilt brats nowadays it wouldn't surprise me. It's a shame really because Joe has performed really well and not made any howlers which he is prone to. But Tom's back in and all seems well.

My favourite Heaton quote from recent weeks is

"I don’t think it’s going to be straightforward and everything’s going to be cupcakes and rainbows"

With the dancing in his marigolds while doing the washing up and this peach of a metaphor our Tom is becoming quite the modern man about the kitchen.

After our upturn in form I could swear I smelt a slight waft of red velvet cake mix the other day. It wasn't pronounced and it is to early to say for sure, but the outlook for a cupcake party at the end of the season is a lot better than it was.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mPJJO8JyW0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Tom Heaton is a vital ingredient in our recipe for success this season and anyone willing to put media dribbling above what we all know about his character and team spirit needs to think again.
