Too late for signings?

Post by moaninclaret » Tue Jan 29, 2019 2:11 pm

Are we too late or is it going to be last minute panic buys? I sincerely hope the rumours are correct concerning Che Adams and Vincent Jannsen, I know SD will be working hard to get players to put pen to paper, but I dont feel at all confident, I just hope we dont sign any hasbeens or wannabees and waste money as we have in the past, the two players mention would certainly freshen up the squad and maybe help with our fight for PL survival at least. Not long before the window closes now and we need to increase our squad numbers with decent players.

Who knows?

Seems alot more settled on here than during the past few (loads actually) transfer windows. We’re used to it. If we sign someone we do, if we don’t we don’t. What difference would it make anyway? It’ll April by the time we actually see them and next year before they make any kind of impact.

Don't forget we have a match tonight so not a lot will happen before then surely.

Our lot are notoriously quiet when it comes to business only tending to let us know at the last minute.

2 and a half days till the window closes....

Dont think it will matter this season anyway. Still waiting on last summers 3 signings to make an impact so I wouldn't worry.

Speak to Ole after the game about a loan for Valencia.

We still have a good number of games for incoming players to make some kind of impact even if its to make our existing players fight harder for their shirts, and with existing and near future injuries, a couple of signings would be welcome.

Too late for Burnley FC to sign players from championship clubs that don’t actually need to sell them?

For me, almost certainly.

I would like to see incomings to bolster the squad but getting excited about it is somewhat misplaced. As someone has pointed out given the way Dyche works it is highly unlikely anyone new will play for ages given the 'Dychefit' bloody nonsense.
Dychefit is weird because it seems as though most of our signings wind up injured within about 3 games of playing, then we don't see them again for two months. What do we do to them in training? ;)

I think Dyche fit is a bit of a myth these days. It's more the fact that he is so cautious and hates change that he finds it hard to trust most new signings.

The only bit of transfer action I would like to see is Wells sold for at least 5 million, other than that nothing.

Why wouldn't you like to see the squad improved/strengthened?

5:57 is definitely too late. They’ll all be at home having their tea.

Not too late for Newcastle mind. Apparently just agreed a club record fee deal, which “advanced quickly over the past 24 hours”

Atlanta’s fans certainly not happy to lose him. Good age as well

Him and Martinez were the main reason they won the MLS cup. He breaks at such pace with the ball he'd be ideal for any team wanting to counter attack.

They've seemingly already replaced him as a D/P with Pity Martinez from River Plate, but fans are anxious about the links of Gonzalez Pirez to Boca.

Oh, and to answer the OP, yes - it's too late.

I am resigned to the fact there will be no incomings this January. Can't be disappointed now, can I?

Now lets just get on with it...

I’m not against that no if SD does that then fine, but what I don’t want to see is a player or players signed and not played like Vydra.

I probably could have worded my post differently but if we do get rid and get our money back on Wells and no others deals I think our squad is very capable of finishing at halfway up the table at least.
