Cost of calling the ticket office
Cost of calling the ticket office
This morning I needed to order an extra ticket for the Spurs match.
I dialled the ticket office on 01282 446800 but I was told to redial on 0844 8041882.
I pointed out that I would be charged for calling that 0844 number from my mobile and was told there was no other way I could order a ticket for a home match.
I have just seen a charge for that call to my O2 account for £4.18 which when you consider I pay just £10 a month for unlimited calls, texts and 2gb is scandslous.
Why are we still being ripped off on a premium rate line after all this time.
On top of the £4.18 cost of the call I had to pay £1.60 admin charge bringing the total to nearly ££6 over and above the cost of the ticket.
I telephoned rather than doing it online as I wanted a seat as near as possible to our existing ones which the online system couldnt help me with.

That's pretty outrageous. Sends a horrible message.
Re: Cost of calling the ticket office
To be fair season tickets have been frozen again for the umpteenth time, we can't have it all ways.
Freezing season tickets is a major benefit to everyone.

No there is probably only you who has heard of Mark Kendall on here. You were one of the few who went on in those days.
Makes it even stranger that you keep claiming to be giving up next season due to the poor standard when you went all those years ago. You are still giving up right even though we are out the bottom 3?

2nd point, I said I wouldn't be renewing if certain things continued. Some if them have some if them haven't.
I probably ( most probably ) still won't renew, however I'll decide at the renewal time.
Whatever the outcome of my decision, I'm sure I'll still get on 20 ish games ( if that's ok with the you and the other proper fans of course? )

Ssshhh will you stop disturbing me, I'm on episode 6, and this is the good part
Re: Cost of calling the ticket office
It's shocking. I would write a letter of complaint. A lot of large companies were told to stop these several years ago due to customers being ripped off, obviously our club has not followed the lead.
"The cost of calling 0843, 0844 and 0845 numbers is made up of two parts: an access charge going to your phone company, and a service charge set by the organisation you are calling.
The service charge for calls to 084 numbers is between 0p and 7p per minute.
You can find out the access charge for this number – which is the rest of the call cost – from your phone company".

Wasn’t there a claim on here some time ago that the club had agreed to stop this?

Re: Cost of calling the ticket office
100% behind the OP. It's ludicrous to phone the club to have that call answered and be told to dial a premium number.
It’s even worse when calling from outside the UK.
Somebody mentioned above that they had to call to get the closest seat available. That is possible online but I’ve regularly had to call them because the seat I’ve selected doesn’t tally with the seat allocated at the end of the process.
To be fair once I have got through they have always sorted it for me.

Re: Cost of calling the ticket office
They stopped the charges to normal club numbers but kept the charge for buying tickets. I assume they couldn't renegotiate the contract and didn't want to bear the cost themselves.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Wasn’t there a claim on here some time ago that the club had agreed to stop this?

They did but couldn't find a system that worked. They removed the premium line for all enquiries and changed the ticket ordering number to a cheaper one. It's still too expensive though.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Wasn’t there a claim on here some time ago that the club had agreed to stop this?

Hi Tony, having spent 30 years plus in telecoms I have to say there comment is ludicrous. The premium rate number is simply a “mask” for standard geographic numbers eg a 01282 number.ClaretTony wrote:They did but couldn't find a system that worked. They should be removed ASAP. I refuse to call them.

Because, if you read the OP, he couldn't do it because he was looking for a specific seat. You can do that on a computer but not on a phone.ZizkovClaret wrote:Why don't people just go online? So much easier and none of this shite
