As above, we do not need another slow old bloke. Two starts only in the Championship and Stoke are mid table. Crouch will never be Dyche fit.
I suspect this is concocted by the media to fill in content based on our alleged interest at the start of the previous season.

Anybody considering the following scenario....
(1) we sell Vokes for £9 million +
(2) Crouch comes in as experienced cover for us until the end of the season
(3) we buy Che Adams now but loan him straight back to Birmingham until the end of the season- thereby getting the player rather than not getting him as B’ham don’t really want to sell as they’re under an embargo and so can’t replfe any outgoing players...
If this is the only way we can sign Adams and not leave us light up top for the rest of the season then surely we have to do it????

Regards to another forward viming in, Wlwho is to say it isn't an as well rather than one or the other.
I look at it as, crouch to replace the Vokes role ( last 10 mins sub to rescue or keep hold of something ) and the cash reported as 8/9m going towards Adams bringing our net spend down.
That way we have a few bases covered and 2 different options rather than the 1.
We are very samey at the minute with subs, those 2 in would certainly mix it up.
And I'm all for it if theres any chance i get to see him to do the Robot dressed in claret and blue infront of the cricketfield stand , I'd be delighted.

Similar to the likes of Tony Philliskirk, Lennie Johnrose (took a while for some to warm to as he played for the club down the road), Ross Wallace, Scott Arfield (Huddersfield message board said he was no good is which enough for some UTC posters) and Joe Hart.
I think the opposite. As a character we would all love crouch even now. As a player we would all have loved him pretty much all of his career. Up until a season or so ago which is completely fair enough.
I love ian wright. But i wouldnt take him now.

Well given hes just signed a new deal, like Hart he can wait until summer. What we need is more important. And hes one injury from being first choice again.

I don't think anyone would argue if this deal enabled us to get the Adams deal over the line, but in isolation it's a stinker.
Crouch isn't a long term prospect either so I'd hope there is a greater strategy and the Vokes money goes somewhere. Though I'm not sure how knocking a million off Vokes up front fee in return for paying 1.5million in Crouches wages for a season helps.

If Crouch arrives as a replacement for Vokes then Dyche truly has got no idea in the transfer market.

Just to add to that, Adams may need time to bed in/learn our style, so we are backing it up with a cheap just in case, that fills Vokes role too.
Obviously it relies on both Crouch and Adams coming, and I think they will.
Let's see what happens first before dismissing the business this window.

Money+Crouch is a good deal in my book. Vokes shouldn't be anything more than a sub for the last ten minutes and Crouch would do a better job of that anyway.

Can only see this as a last minute thing is we fail to get anyone else in.
To be perfectly honest, we do need Sam but he's been an absolute colossus for us and I can't begrudge him a move.

We weaken our striking options with this swap.
Not if the money we get for Vokes goes into the pot to up the ante for Adams, say. Remember even though Crouch wouldn't be the best siging in the world he would be costing us nothing only wages and the club aren't going to break the bank for him. He would be a useful addition IF we land another striker as well.

As much as I think selling Vokes for a good fee is the right thing to do for the club and the player, I’m not following this idea that it allows us to up our bid for Che Adams.
I mean, unless something disastrous has occurred behind the scenes, we could pay the fee for Adams on the spot right now if we wanted to. Just like we could have for Jay Rodriguez back in summer. Etc. Etc.
My message is: if we fail to land our targets, do NOT listen to Garlick’s propaganda.

If we need the Vokes money to make a signing, something has gone seriously wrong.

No it's not. We don't need the money and I'd rather have Sam as back up in case of injuries and also coming on as a late sub. I can't see anything positive in this deal whatsoever.

This would be a regressive transfer. I like Vokes. I think it is important we keep a core of a successful dressing room. The transition to newer players needs to be managed carefully or we end up like Stoke. Arfield and Marney left pre-season and with Ward absent for much of it, that is enough core experience missing already.
I think Vokes looks like a lad that has been in the gym a bit too much, like Ade when he was recovering from injury. He's been desperately unlucky to not get game time when Wood was poor earlier this season. We all know from experience that Vokes thrives on playing regularly. He trims down and he builds his confidence up.
Crouch at this point in his career offers nothing. Absolutely nothing. I could accept selling Vokesy for someone with ability or if he feels he needs to play. Crouch is pure dogshit at this stage in his career, would rather we stick the money in the bank than waste it... maybe that is the motive?

Selling Vokes for £10m only makes sense if he is not in Duche’s long term plans. That in itself makes no sense since he recently extended his contract and nothing much has changed at the club since.
If Sam wants to go to secure one decent final contract with a good signing on fee then that’s fine. He owes us nothing and he’s never had a big transfer.
We do not need to sell Vokes to fund buying Adams. If we are choosing to then I would start to question Garlick or be a little concerned our wage bill is a lot higher than my estimate of £75m.
As for signing Crouch I really do not see the point - not because it may facilitate some kind of short term arrangement involving sending Evans back out on loan to the summer....but fundamentally because he is nearly 40 and he can’t run or move much !
If we want to “deal” with Stoke over Vokes then talk to them about Joe Allen and go for Evans aswell. Spending day a net £25m on Allen and Evans with Sam leaving would be good.

I think people are failing to see the bigger picture with Crouch.
Our new stand is moving towards completion and a tall bloke would be very useful when it comes to things like painting ceilings or putting up light fittings. His height advantage could be very useful to us and in the longer term he could add to the strength in depth of our window cleaning crew.
I'm guessing one of the biggest hurdles in relation to bringing in Che immediately is who could Birmingham bring in to replace him at this late point in the window?
If we need a deal swinger, and loans to Birmingham are a possibility considering their FFP situation, I would prefer to see Agyei go to them for the rest of the season with Che coming the other way.
It would provide Agyei with a very good first team opportunity and some of the similarities between him and Che would make it easier for Birmingham to include him in their squad without having to do a tactical overhaul.
The offer of a suitable replacement could constitute a huge difference between attraction point of two competing offers, if Southampton or another team do step in.
