We could do with shipping Walters out but no way that's going to happen as he sees out his £35k a week contract in the physio room tweeting snide negative comments about the club.Lancasterclaret wrote:John Walters is tweeting a deep heat gag aimed at Crouch.
Looks like he's on his way.

Re: Peter Crouch
I can understand why Sam wants to go, regular football is important for him now.
I can understand why Grouchy wants another season in the Prem. I always liked him, even when he used to get stick from most fans.
But WTF does a 37 yr old, who can't get in a struggling Stoke side, even behind 'I love me, couldn't hit a barn door' Berahino, bring to Turf Moor. I could keep a seat warm.
I just don't get it, nonplussed. Numb. Headshaking. Why. How.
If SD wants to keep the squad numbers up, why not being another youngster up from the U23s.

Re: Peter Crouch
I can believe the negativity towards Crouch - you shouldn't expect anything else from certain posters, the same posters clambering behind 'Dyche Out' 3 weeks ago...that's gone quiet hasn't it?
Crouch is an option, a good option. He has (and still will) score goals at this level. Yes, it isn't the most exciting, but it doesn't need to be. The way we play isn't very exciting, but it works, especially recently.
Give him a chance.

He can't even get in the stoke team before Berahino, so why the hell would we want the bean pole..

Re: Peter Crouch
I have no negativity towards this at all, Vokes has been a great servant, he is on the bench, plays with Bale for Wales and wants to start games. Do the decent thing and replace him for the last 14 games of the season with a player that can do a similar job to the one Vokes is doing at the moment. Gives the club more time to find the forwards we need for next season and a bit more cash towards it. It isn't exciting but it makes sense to me. We are Burnley not Barcelona.

I'm stating that Berahino is useless n even he gets in the starting 11 more than Crouch does, so why would a premier league team want a player that can't even get in a championship team?Selby Claret wrote:Are you seriously suggesting that they both do the same job role

Crouch has had more yellow cards than goals scored this season. Seriously, is this how desperate our transfers have become.

The way SD uses subs, he will only get 2mins game time max anyway each time hopefully.

Tall order, but it sounds like a good plan.occ-claret wrote:Anyone thought Crouch could be loaned to Birmingham
Completely agree, but £7m minus Wolves cut for a Premier league striker who is part of the fabric of our club, currently has 3 years on his contract, benefits us in terms of a complete understanding of our set up, has the ability to play a full game if needed, adds to our defence, scores us vital goals, in the window that strikers command a premium, in the last day when prices soar, before we have a clear idea of what is happening on the Che front or other fronts would be the biggest joke of all.Colburn_Claret wrote:I can understand why Sam wants to go, regular football is important for him now.
Taking a risk to sell Sam for a song when we are currently sitting a couple of points above the relegation zone is truly laughable. We could get more for him in the Summer window if this is the best deal on the table.
Crouch will also take up one of our few remaining first teams lots. If Peter wants a contract that is any longer than six months it means we can't fill the same slot with a player that has a long term future in the Summer window.
We better have more rabbits up our sleeves than Warner Bros in the final hours of the window to make this disappointing development resemble anything other than a risky finance before football deal.

Crouch is the one player of his age that can make a difference when a lot of crosses are banged in with 10 mins left. Nothing to lose.

Thanks BB well if it is that I don’t see that as being a bad thing as both are good at coming on late and scoring valuable goals with the added benefit of £7 million in our old bread basket. I also don’t think that the ages have much to do with it given thier 10-15 minute cameo parts.

if we are paying 3 million for a 37 year old then we must have more money than I previously though
