Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Has anyone ever signed a 38yr old in the premier league before?
They're making out he's a freebie so we don't have to give Wolves 25% of his fee.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
According to John Percy of the Telegraph we will get £7 million plus Crouch and Wolves have a 25% sell on fee!

LCCC's Mascot 'Lanky' has been spotted near Gawthorpe.
Or is it someone else in disguise?

I can get some snaps of the lads and photoshop different heads on to keep everyone amused whilst the club conducts it's business in private somewhere else, probably around Manchester (or Birmingham, or Stoke).
Pop up the road to the garage you will see cricketfield sat in the layby waiting for some movement of black 4x4 s filling up.Take him a hot brew.poor guy must be frozen...If you spot a JA 1 reg plate take a picture. We all know who that will be.
Ps Cricketfield, only joking mate to pass the time on .

Must be one for the dressing room like Brian Reid. I dread to think what the wages are to have a good character around. If we don’t sign anyone else we have weakened our squad.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
We can't be planning on replacing Vokes with Crouch, there must be another coming in as the actual replacement. Madness if not.

Our transfer dealings have almost gone beyond parody. Every window you think they can't get any worse but good old Burnley FC always find a way of surprising us

FFS, nothing against Crouch but he is 38.
He will I think get us a few points with late headers, but really.

If Crouch/Vokes is happening it must be understood that Che Adams is also happening - otherwise it's madness. I'm sure we wont move on Crouch/Vokes swap until Adams is confirmed too

The Times are suggesting Vokes to Stoke, Crouch to Burnley, and Adams to Burnley but loaned back to Birmingham until the end of the season.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
With tin hat on.....the Crouch / Vokes deal makes some sense....
If Vokes wants to leave and Dyche has said he won't play much then £7M is ok
There is little prospect of us replacing him in January with anyone 'decent' without getting held to ransom
Crouch is inexpensive and - if Dyche's intention is to have a big lad to bring on for the last 20 to affect a game and play direct - then it might as well be Crouch sitting there waiting for the call as Vokes - and if its Crouch then there's money in the bank and Vokes is happy - he's been a great servant and I'm sure Dyche has a lot of affection for him - which would include not standing in his way
Wood and Barnes are clearly his first choice which means any target man will be used sparingly as and when the need arises.
Bank some money - give an unhappy Claret the freedom to play football - and bring in someone who is 6'7" to win headers when we play panic lumpball when chasing a game
If you wear rose tinted glasses while reading this may also help...

Sky now saying £10M for Vokes ...
Re: Transfer Deadline Day
I remember last season when Stoke were chasing the game and continually crossing the ball into Crouch & the stress I felt each time it went in, for that alone he will be worth his place..he causes utter panic in an area when crosses come in, we can only gain from that.
