Transfer Deadline Day
Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Why do we continue to buy players that are past their sell by date, I really don't know what the hell is going on.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Regarding Che Adams, what is the problem with signing now and the deal going through on 1st July, not loaning him back but still similar. Like what Liverpool did with Keita from Leipzig.

I think you can only do that if they are coming from another country. May be wrong, but thought I saw that somewhere previously.claretburns wrote:Regarding Che Adams, what is the problem with signing now and the deal going through on 1st July, not loaning him back but still similar. IF...we were going to loan him back anyways. We could just put an agreement in place to sign him in Summer.Steddyman wrote:Sky Reporting that the terms of the #BCFC embargo with the EFL would not allow them to loan Che Adams back from us, so the deal is off.
Welcome Crouchy.
Re: Transfer Deadline Day
The Adams deal is off, completely dead! The club are now exploring a couple of loan options. Enquired about Austin on loan but got knocked back.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an offer to buy Austin go in, judging by our historical knee Jerk reactions.

Begs the question why we didn't find this out until the last minute...? I can't believe we'd be that amateur in our approach if this is true.SKY SPORTS - BREAKING NEWS
Birmingham City have told Burnley that under the terms of their EFL transfer embargo, they are not allowed to sell Che Adams and then loan him back, and so they are not interested in doing a deal, Sky Sports News understands.
Burnley were exploring that possibility as a compromise, so that Adams could be bought now, abut remain at St Andrews for the remainder of this season.

If we are going down the road of last chance dances and risk taking I still like the look of Josip Drmic who I mentioned on another post.ClaretAL wrote:I wouldn't be surprised to see an offer to buy Austin go in, judging by our historical knee Jerk reactions.
FC Nuremberg are rumoured to be considering a last minute move for him and I could imagine Borussia Mönchengladbach being open to a peanut offer or no money at all.

Edit: Highlights from his time at FC Nuremberg and showing that he still has it in his locker during the last World Cup for Switzerland, despite being sidelined with injuries, expensive new incomings and a change to a one up top formation at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Plays up front or out on the wings, pacey, not bad with both feet, below pensionable age.
Past knee injuries a concern, but he looked okay in the World Cup in terms of recovery after two lengthy spells that kept him from playing for most of 2016/17.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
If we are serious about Adams then just get a move on and offer them something they can’t refuse at the moment, and I don’t mean a ridiculous amount, perhaps their asking price or just below, and a gentleman’s agreement on a future loan in the summer of a player such as Jimmy Dunne or Joe Hart

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Correct, you need to be a football agent (preferably for the players you want) or a manager perhaps. I'm sure that SD doesn't need to understand the thrust dynamics of a rocket launch in the same way that a NASA scientist wont really know the ins and outs of a football transfer.joey13 wrote:You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know what’s going on behind the scenes

If Adams is a no go then put in a bid for Jansenn. I can't believe Burnley sold Vokes and brought in Crouch without getting Adams or Jansenn first. In the position we are in then the transfer window will see us as a joke if we don't make something else happen.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Bit of a damp squib on a deadline day for everyone, not as if the premiership has been alight with moves. Rafa will probably be happiest, but it's not as if all our rivals down at the bottom have strengthened massively. Such a shame everyone's gone mental, we were all feeling positive after our last 5 games.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
The point I am making is and I have made this point before in seasons past that Burnley nearly always leave themselves vunerable by selling players before getting their target in first. As Adams may not happen then we need someone else. Selling Vokes and getting Crouch when we are near the relegation places does not make a lot of sense.Tall Paul wrote:They haven't yet, unless you know something we don't.
