Would you be happy or annoyed if Adams came out and asked for the transfer via a request?

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Think that IS the problem, we will have to make an offer that negates it if we are not wanting to loan him back. Sure it would have been sorted had BC not had the embargo. I'd hope that seeing as we seem to be putting sa lot into this that a buy loan deal is on the table should time run out on the straight transfer, but we could do with him in... if we canboatshed bill wrote:That will not be permitted, to do with their FFP situation, I believe.
I'm not even sure that they could buy a replacement

Sadly it's not analagous as when any normal negotiation fails you return to the status quo.nil_desperandum wrote:Have we ruled out "no deal" yet?
Maybe if we don't like the deal we're being offered we need to get "Brady" involved?
We could crash out of the Premier League and be forced to deal on WBA terms.

WE have not finished yet one way or the other with Brum.
Just confirmed by SPN from the training ground

Garry Monk can’t believe his luck. Club sets easily matchable valuation for star striker, and by pure good fortune it happens to be Burnley Football Club who have the task of bidding.

Nixon says we’ve walked away. At £10m.
Profit making Premier League club walks away £2m short on deadline day out of fear of being ripped off. Don’t rate Dyche’s transfer policy highly at all, but sooner Garlick leaves, the better.

I would imagine with the Adams bid over that is probably our business wrapped up. Incredibly disappointing.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Even if we offered £12 million now, given how long it is taking to get Crouchy through his medical, there is no way we could get Che up here for a medical and to sign in how long is left. We are done.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
Just seems incredibly short sighted, pedantic, overly cautious and unrealistic to offer £10m for a player the club want £12m for (which seems a very fair price considering their embargo).
It’s absurd to make four bids below asking price then walk away because (shock, horror) we haven’t offered what they asked for 10 hours prior. I understand negotiation, but in Birmingham’s transfer position they were always going to stick to their guns.

£7m for Sam and walking away at £10m for CheClaretAndJew wrote:Final bid for Adams was 10 million, rejected and we've walked away. Goodnight all.
Accepting a low value for one and expecting to pay a low value for another. Something is seriously wrong there.
Getting a reasonable amount for Sam would have enabled us to pay more for Che.
Bad business on both ends, although why we are ******* about when we have enough cash to up the bid to try and salvage something from this potential cluster **** is beyond me.
If Birmingham can't make any loan deals and they are resisting because of that, which is understandable, then we have to ask why we once again put all of our eggs in the basket of a player who wasn't going to move and why we left it until the very last minute to make our play.
Obviously we don't know the full ins and outs of Birminghams FFP restrictions, but the recruitment team should have known them, because that is what they are paid to do. In the case of any doubts going in earlier would have left us time to pursue alternatives. And it isn't like waiting until the very last minute is doing us any favors in terms of prices.
Different window same mistakes

Disagree with the transfer policy or with walking away over £2 million but wanting rid of Garlick is just silly.SGr wrote:Nixon says we’ve walked away. At £10m.

Re: Transfer Deadline Day
He does, but because it suits him to spin a story, he simplifies negotiations into a serious of chess moves with dramatic effect. As anyone who has ever negotiated any sort of deal knows, it's never quite as static or simple as he suggests. To use a simple aspect - almost no deal is straightforward £10 million cash. There are debates about what amount is guaranteed, and whether that is all payable up front or in instalments, how much is in "add-ons" and if so what the conditions are for payment, and so on. All of which takes ongoing dialogue.ClaretAndJew wrote:He knows more than our own journalists.
None of us actually know what Burnley have been told by Brum, or vice versa, or what negotiations have taken place. Everyone is basing their opinions on half truths and half-stories from journalists.
