You have to laugh, at least we can stop worrying that Utd's equaliser was offside and Lingard exaggerated his fall.

Good luck to our recruitment team in signing a young, skilful and pacy forward to then enable Sam Vokes to move on for more regular football.

The Peter Crouch rumours are obviously a rather amusing hoax.

That wasn't the initial deal.

It's very high risk to loan him back injury wise, and he will need the whole "Dyche fit, framework and group" when he gets here in the summer then.

No better way than getting him integrated and ready whilst having a look at him than over these next 5 month's. He'll be ready for us next season then.
( unless it's the only way to get the transfer done or it save a us some cash )
Otherwise it's very strange.
I was told he was our number 1 target!

Y4s because we will let that happen, we hold the cards on Vydra, so he won't go until Adams/the other arrives.

I get the feeling we either need to offer the money/deal they want or we could potentially get him a little cheaper if we loan him back. Without getting into a "my source says this and your source says that" debate, I'm led to believe that loaning him back is a very real possibility at this stage. I wouldn't want us to do that but, as mentioned, it might be a way we can get this deal done if we aren't willing to meet their valuation.

the loan back really does suit both parties. He wouldn't realistically get near our first team this season, unless there's injuries to Wood AND Barnes AND Vydra - which is possible but unlikely. Get him in the fold, then Summer to be fit for next season and on a par with others playing for the shirt.

And it might mean that Birmingham would favour our bid over anybody elses.

Which could be key.

If that happens, then I've no problem with Crouch coming in as a 4th striker cover.

The goal posts may have changed, and if its the only way then that's the only way.

Not ideal, but next best thing. He is our number 1 target.

Just trying to get this right, correct me if I'm wrong.

The Vokes/Crouch deal is to get Crouch off the Stoke books because he's costing them a fortune. This ends his contract with them and free's up their wage bill, with Sam Vokes going the other way. And also removes Sam from our wage bill. If this goes ahead, then this free's us up to buy Che Adams from Birmingham but only joins us at the end of the season (after a loan)?

So effectively we get rid of one striker, buy two more with Crouch leaving us at the end of the season and this new guy finally moving to Turf post season so their paths never cross. Gets rid of two aging strikers and then a fresh new blood for the start of next season?

If so that is a clever and ballsy move and I like it. If we are just signing Crouch as a replacement for Vokes then the clubs gone mad.

Watch this space.

Crafty psychology from the club there.
Don't really agree. Crouch would come as old yes and a bit past it, but he comes with a wealth of PL and international experience and the ability to head a ball that is second to none (helped by his extreme height of course). He isn't going to cost a thing, his wages will have to be acceptable to the board and as an option with 10 minutes to go and losing I think he could be very useful. Of course I would only be happy if Vokes was replaced by a real option and then Crouch would just be a bonus.

It makes me laugh all this slagging off of our transfer business. For all the players we've thought coming and the disappointment of deals falling through we remain a Premier League side paying less than MANY clubs desperate to get up. I equate that as the club has done fantastic business. Think the problem is short-sightedness. Its evolution, not revolution that a club like Burnley needs.

Crouchy might not set many pulses racing but its part of a bigger picture. I'd be amazed if Crouchy doesn't combine coaching the younger forwards with offering a throw on goal poacher. I still think there might be more to the deal than is being let out yet.
