I bet they'd take £15million, regardless. And that's the minimum we'd be paying for a decent striker in the summer.IanMcL wrote:They need to keep him as they cannot sign a replacement.

Who cares. If Birmingham want £12m for him then we should sign him for £15m regardless.Guller Bull wrote:I'd never heard of him till about 4 days ago. Whats the clamour on this bloke - is he that good?

No, I'm just saying that I bet they'd have our hand off in response to a specific post saying they couldn't sell.Rileybobs wrote:Who cares. If Birmingham want £12m for him then we should sign him for £15m regardless.

Re: Che
Wasn’t responding to you bb. I just picked the £15m out of the air. More making light of the fact that people whinge about us wasting money on Wells, Walters, Vydra etc. Well, what if Adams is seen as a massive risk as he’s extremely unproven and we’re only willing to risk so much? The same people slagging the board of for being penny pinchers would no doubt be the first to slag off the club for wasting the £15m if Adams flopped in the PL.boatshed bill wrote:No, I'm just saying that I bet they'd have our hand off in response to a specific post saying they couldn't sell.

Re: Che
Sounds like we would of gone to £12m, which in itself is quite a bold move. You'd have to think that we've been watching him to even consider that sort of money.Rileybobs wrote:Wasn’t responding to you bb. I just picked the £15m out of the air. I think the clamour actually started when it appeared it was going to be either this Adams guy or Crouch.....So I suppose you can kind of understand it tbh!!

Re: Che
Birmingham are six points off the playoffs. Why would they sell if they could (probably unlikely, but possible) get promoted and get the 100 million from the PL. They will get a similar amount if not more in summer for "Che" if he is that good and ends up with 25+ goals this season.

Re: Che
If Adams keeps up his form we’ll get to summer and be likely “priced out” (Dyche/Garlick’s words, not mine) by someone like Bournemouth.
That’s why we should’ve closed the deal in January if we were serious about it.

Re: Che
Possibility because you can't talk a player under contract until you've agreed the fee with his employers.boatshed bill wrote:If this is the case why did we submit bids?
Re: Che
Don't understand why we're trying to dump Vydra out of the door. While Hart was busy picking the ball out of the net 3,4 and even five times per game over a protracted period, Vydra's game time can be counted in a handful of minutes. Extremely difficult to form an opinion based on that.Woodleyclaret wrote:Straight swop for Vydra

Re: Che
This is my worry as well,if Che falls through goes elsewhere in the summer i hope Mike Rigg has some alternatives to explore.SGr wrote:If Adams keeps up his form we’ll get to summer and be likely “priced out” (Dyche/Garlick’s words, not mine) by someone like Bournemouth.

Bournemouth is definitely a possible destination for Che,if Callum Wilson departs for Chelsea in the summer for 30 million+,Bournemouth will have deep pockets to outbid most other interested parties including us.

Birmingham City still need the money desperately - nothing stopping us agreeing the deal now and having him in the summer you can till have the contract just not the registration and that way they get want they want both ways

Can you honestly see us getting him now ? His price come end of the season will be a lot more also other teams in the market for a striker than can blow us out the water . We had our chance and we didnt take the gambleChester Perry wrote:Birmingham City still need the money desperately - nothing stopping us agreeing the deal now and having him in the summer you can till have the contract just not the registration and that way they get want they want both ways

We managed to get the best striker in the Championship at the time - Chris Wood, who'd scored 30 goals for Leeds during the season.

If adams keeps banging them in from now until the end of the season birmingham will just wait until the last few days of the window and sell to the highest bidder . There most likely going to sign a replacement early summer if possible which will strengthen there hand even moreSpijed wrote:Depends.

Re: Che
I don't know is the simple answer, There has been speculation from non Burnley sources that we met their price and then they said it was not enough -it is believed both Wigan and Swansea pulled similar tricks yesterday, What I do know is City are in dire FFP circumstances and other than the owners doing a Venkys' (converting cash input into equity) this is perhaps the only way they will get what they need on the balance sheet in the current financial periodReecey1987 wrote:Can you honestly see us getting him now ? Re: Che
If he was the managers number 1 target like a few have sudjested you would like to think we will be working hard to get the deal done behind the scenes . But on the flipside maybe adams wasnt dyches target and was infact one of mike riggs and the manager felt he wasnt worth the extra money needed to land him considering we bought wells and vydra and never got a look in . They both come from the championshipChester Perry wrote:I don't know is the simple answer, There has been speculation from non Burnley sources that we met their price and then they said it was not enough -it is believed both Wigan and Swansea pulled similar tricks yesterday, What I do know is City are in dire FFP circumstances and other than the owners doing a Venkys' (converting cash input into equity) this is perhaps the only way they will get what they need on the balance sheet in the current financial period

Putting in bids for players that don’t want to come isn’t unusual - shows we are “trying” and sometimes the club can put pressure on the player to move.boatshed bill wrote:If this is the case why did we submit bids?
