Crouch is an acquaintance/friend of Dyche isn’t he? They were snapped drinking together at a music festival last summer.

Re: ARTICLE: Ouch it's Crouch
I don’t mind the Crouch for Vokes thing if Sam was set on going. That is just one of those things, and Sam is probably not good enough as a finisher for the Premier League.
The Adams thing, well, I don’t know much about him. I can’t criticise on particulars if I don’t know the player. Same with the Spurs chap. There is a chance we are being too particular (Dyche) or too stingy (Garlick) but both are speculation.
From memory though, we went into this window wanting a winger. We currently have a kid on one wing and a midfielder on another. We have also just played a cup match with a left back at right back and insufficient quality cover in several places. It is bemusing nothing seems to have come close to happening in these areas.

Yes, there's a picture of them further back on the other thread. He's also drinking with a rock star too, but surely we ain't signing him or Rigg really will be getting the boot!!

A needlessly unpleasant article from the leading Clarets message board

Yea, 5 years ago a 6 month contract I would have thought a reasonably Deal, but now at 38 it looks like desperation.

How about this signing is totally f*cking stupid and the business model reasoning for selling Vokes is a total embarrassment. If f we have to sell players for 7 million for financial reasons Garlick has some serious questions to answer.Pearcey wrote:I don’t really know what to say to be honest.

It's a good deal if we're looking at boosting the club's finances rather than trying to strengthen the team. A shocking window, as far as I'm concerned. No ambition.DAVETHEVICAR wrote:Personally I think this is a great deal
Perhaps I am on my own but Crouch for 6 months with no fee for Sam who we get 7 million plus add ons
Sam like Tom Heaton a few weeks back probably wanted to leave to get games.
With Wood and Barnes now starting each game, Vokes won’t get a look in except for last 20 minutes of games perhaps. Crouch will be able to come off the bench instead of Sam.
People mentioning injury to Wood or Barnes maybe but who knows Vokes May get injured.
Think Sean Dyche has more idea about which players he wants than some clowns posting on this board

I doubt it’s the signing anyone expected. However, I understand the deal, it was right to five Sam the move - he has been a great servant.
Crouch has come in, I doubt he or anyone is expecting him to play 90mkns each week.
He is a Claret now, let’s get behind him. Some appalling insults on here this evening to one of our players.

Spot on.
Also the point about him being a good impact sub late on, if needed

Re: ARTICLE: Ouch it's Crouch
Why was Vokes so desperate to move and so desperate to get away from Burnley football club that it had to be this week? Why is it the only replacement we could muster is a 38 year old who can’t get into a championship side? Something isn’t right.
Is it a case of typical Burnley? Spend all month trying to get our number 1 target (Adams) and when we finally realise it will never happen it’s too late to do anything the only option is Crouch. How many years have we been in the premiere league? Other clubs must laugh at us when they see us coming. It’s really frustrating I think. We finished 7th and qualified for Europe less then a year ago.
