An excellent player for us - I think in his early career he was not the fittest player but when he joined Burnley and with the Dyche influence he became much better. Scored some important goals for us and always cane across as a genuine guy. Think he needs to be playing regularly so the move is right for him and maybe also for us.

A very fair summation. I said on another thread that Sam was a genuine, honest player and a real gent. It is time for him to move to a new challenge and I wish him well.

Good article about a really nice bloke who has played his part in an important part of the history of Burnley Football Club.
I am sorry to see him go, however, he was not getting a regular game and I hope that the move gives him that opportunity to play regularly at Stoke and keep him in focus for Wales.
Thank you Sam and good luck in the future.

Very good article - it summed up most people’s thoughts on Sam and we all wish him all the best at Stoke. He has been a real servant to our club and has never complained publicly when not selected. All in all he comes across as a true gentleman and we fans thank him for his contribution to our club’s recent success.

He's been a really good player for us since it all kicked off when he paired up with Ings and he really is a top bloke.

Says a lot about him too that he's opted to leave the Premier League to go to a club where he's likely to get more game time.

His reception when his name was read out against Liverpool in our first season in this league under Dyche will live with him a long time I’m sure.

Great article

Both Sam and his dad are really great blokes.

On a purely selfish note I wish we could have agreed to sell Sam in the summer when a “proper” replacement has been found. We wouldn’t have got any less for him because he is so good.

I really feel sad at his leaving to Sam Vokes Stoke!

One of the best headers of the ball we've ever seen at the Turf, great servant to the club.

All the best to him in the future.

In my early teenage years in the late 60's, our annual need to sell one of our best players (think of Morgan, Lochhead, Coates and O'Neil) used to do my head in.
I was heartbroken to see them leave, thinking we'd never replace them.
But we did for a while, until the supply line dried up.
These days as an older and dare I say wiser supporter, it's almost a given that someone moves on and it is much easier to take.
Having said all the above b******s, I'm still sad to see Big Sam go.
He always came across as a genuinely decent bloke and what a journey we had together.
Good luck Sam.

The best forward I've seen at Burnley for winning a header when targeted with a long / direct ball, that's for sure.

Not sure about that Frank. Charlie Austin for me but I had a lot of respect for Sam the way he conducted himself. Hope he continues to do well at his new club.

Not only good for BFC but a lovely guy too. Usually last off the field at the end of a game, showing his respect and gratitude for the fans.

A true Burnley Legend.

Good luck Sam with whatever you do :)
