When the announced man of the match as Bardsley I said he’d been ok... just like most of the others. I thought saints ran their hearts out. We looked a little leggy. But we still should have won.

Thought he was poor personally and was awful defensively for their goal.

As for Bardsley MOM, I think today was a prime example of why we need to invest in a RB in summer. So many great crossing opportunities flopped, tripps he ain’t.

Taylor was brilliant, he’s clearly growing in confidence which is good to see.

Crouch did what he was brought in to do, make a difference and stir it up. Though I do think moving forward that we need to be more effective with the quality of crosses into him, albeit seeing one of them win us a penalty, some of the balls were just hopeful punts.

We got out of jail after a very lackluster performance overall. We played some decent football in spurts, but the final pass was so often wayward and to be fair to Soton, who were never great, they were still the better side throughout. BUT, not only did we nick a point right at the death, we denied a huge rival all 3 which was absolutely vital.

It was obvious initially with Ingsy coming deep to exploit the gap between out two banks of four and then Redmond after Ings went off that we needed to mark him - we didn't & that's why he scored a cracker

Thought we were unlucky not to get all three points to be honest, though we never hit the heights we certainly created some great chances. Saints took advantage of us having a wobble after half time, but we were absolutely on top for the last ten minutes and the last minute equalizer was the least that we deserved.

I dont do the ratings thread but agree 100% with this. Taylor has learnt so much so quickly that we have a real diamond. Just need Mcneil to be better in the 60 - 90 minute period and they will be a force and partnership to be reckoned with.

Tarkowski 7 - thought he struggled at times against Redmond and couple of casual passbacks nearly put us in trouble

McNeil 8 - a lot of the good we do comes from this lad. He gets the team going, he’s confident, puts in great crosses and he’s brave. So impressed with him.
Barnes 8 (MoM) - going to give him the edge over Dwight purely for the way he kept going today. He could have had a hat trick.
Wood 6 - decent first half....missed a great chance but showed really good skill to make it for himself

JBG 6 - put some decent balls in but just lacking a bit of match sharpness

In too many games this year we start both halves slowly. Especially after half time we seem to come out lethargic and allow the opposition to get on front foot. We’ve conceded a number of goals in that period. We used to really go for teams at the start of both halves.

Think we deserved more than a draw today - just about.

Looking like this season will go right to the wire as a number of teams around us are playing a lot better than they were before Christmas
