Would you still buy a Nissan?
Nissan have decided to build the new X-Trail in Japan. They are the first motor company to move their production because of Brexit uncertainties....others may follow.
Does it annoy you? Would you still buy a Nissan if you had been planning to do so?

I'm fairly sure I've never bought a car based on where it was built.

They haven’t moved it because of Brexit uncertainties.
It was never there in the first place - it was going to be and they have decided not to because of poor sales in Europe and have said they have done this for business reasons.
The other models they make up there will continue to be made.

Re: Would you still buy a Nissan?
Nissan not producing their SUV here is NOT related to Brexit. If the company implied it is, it is a fraction of the reason.LoveCurryPies wrote:Nissan have decided to build the new X-Trail in Japan. They are not shifting production to the EU, but back to Japan. Their boss was jailed. The diesel scandal has hit them hard. They have made a strategic decision to regroup.
The entire world car industry is in crisis. The companies who will thrive are unknown. We can’t rely on it for our economy going forward, regardless of Brexit. Naive of some MPs to push for a customs union with the car industry the main reason when it’s future isn’t guaranteed. Better to have an independant trade policy and encourage innovation into the new generation of transport in the future rather than look at the supply chain economics of the present and past.
And no, I wouldn’t buy Nissan.

***** sake you absolute spoon.
The Car industry is not the main reason for pushing for a Customs Union.
I'm getting sick and tired of bright people on here assuming we are all thick as pigshit. You know you will get called out for lies, so stop lying.

Yeah, I'd definitely buy the GTR...
In regards to Nissan being hit by falling sales etc, anyone remember Daihatsu stopped selling in most of Europe due to falling sales etc, sometimes it just happens.
The diesel thing is going to harm pretty much 90% of cr manufacturers and they'll restructure their businesses to deal with it.

Big diesel SUV, bit of a dinosaur now, the market has moved.
Petrol hybrid or electric is the future.
Nissan to stop producing diesels in three year's time.

Put your fingers in your ears and go LA LA LA LA LA.
While we have taken this decision for business reasons, the continued uncertainty around the UK’s future relationship with the EU is not helping companies like ours to plan for the future,” said Europe Chairman Gianluca de Ficchy.

The full quote: Gianluca de Ficchy said the decision was a mixture of investment needed for emissions regulations and reduced sales forecasts but added uncertainty over Brexit had also played a part.Billy Balfour wrote:Put your fingers in your ears and go LA LA LA LA LA.

Nissan claim that part of the reason is the uncertainty of Brexit. It's really weird that some people are desperate to claim that Brexit has nothing to do with the decision, despite Nissan saying exactly the opposite. Desperate.

That's despite numerous conversations on this forum about the automotive industry and the issues it's having and will have whilst it adjusts.

But they would say exactly the opposite. Theyd rather blame Brexit, than admit the problems they are facing back in Japan.Rileybobs wrote:Nissan claim that part of the reason is the uncertainty of Brexit. That said, Brexit is a problem for a lot of businesses, not because we are leaving, but because they don't know if we are leaving or under what terms. NOTHING upsets business more than uncertainty. Once it is settled, and they have a clear plan of how to proceed they'll just get on with it, as they always do.

Escalation of commitment is a human behavior pattern in which an individual or group facing increasingly negative outcomes from a decision, action, or investment nevertheless continues the behavior instead of altering course. The actor maintains behaviors that are irrational, but align with previous decisions and actions.
