I thought we had moved on from Jon Snow’s comment “I have never seen so many white people all in one place” about a Brexit party march, despite the BP having loads of ethnic minority candidates.
I’m too dim to know how to attach it on here, but Jon could want to study carefully the photo that Ursula Von Der Leyen has tweeted of her and her 27 all-white commissioners, which looks very similar to Junckers and his earlier photos of the last batch of 28 all-white commissioners. The big group of MEPs doesn’t have many either, and the few that there are, most are British. No person of colour has ever held high office in the EU.
They have even had the nerve to give their top migration official the title “Protecting the European way of life”. By which of course they mean white European.
The Brexit Party in particular, and Brexit voters in general, have called time on our place in this dodgy cabal, while remaining happy to have limited migration where it benefits us. Please don’t imply we are the racist ones. Perhaps look closer to home - the Lib Dem’s had to rely on Chukka defecting to get their first person of colour in the chamber, the SNP have none out of 35. Yet they have the nerve to falsely accuse the Tories of right wing behaviour. Rank hypocrisy.
I don’t think there was a “Brexit Party = racist debate” as such, it was just Lowbank going off on one and rightly getting called out on it.
To call everyone in the BP a racist would be jut as unacceptable as accusing every Eastern European of eating his fish.
