Looks like the EU are going to force Labour MPs to choose between May's deal or a no-deal exit.

Who'd a thought it.

Scared of Chukka getting the better of him, when the good ideas start getting ‘chukka’d’ around.

What a farce this whole situation is.

Theresa May only asking for a short delay is basically holding a gun to the MP's heads to get her deal through.

Corbyn has had chances to take her on and it hasn't happened.

MP's are divided over Brexit and don't know what to do.

Does anyone have faith in any of them? At this stage I want a long delay to Brexit and a second referendum. After a fair campaign, which the last was not, we will get the answer, if it's the same, so be it, if different, so be it. Longer delay gives us time to work on our deal if nothing else and also gives someone else the opportunity to present it.

I actually voted Remain but I've no problem with Brexit. I would trust Jack buying his magic beans over the deal she wants to push through though. I also feel like she's played a dirty trick to get her deal back. Not a fan.

What a surprise she is late for her own meeting.
We have a 7 minute rule.
If the meeting organiser does not turn up in 7 minutes, we alll leave and meeting is cancelled.

She is becoming a joke!

Daft thing is, I actually believe her when she is adamant the country must leave by June 30th or it would be betraying the result.

I know many of us want an extension, but I am sure she believes she is doing the right thing. The question is, would she accept no deal if her deal is rejected again?

As far as I am aware, only Government can lay Acts or Statutory Instruments (though I may be wrong). That, and her being fireproof until December, means that only she can propose changing the law, which is that we leave in 9 days.

I don’t think she’ll say anything other than her deal is the best on offer and that if MPs don’t vote for it we leave with no deal.

I have visions of Jezza’s Love island style meltdown when his ex turns up.

Better still, a diva style wobbly “I asked for Perrier, this is clearly Evian...” (sobbing, slams door to No.10)

I suspect May knew exactly what she was doing. It was a party leaders meeting and she invited someone who isn’t the leader for a group that isn’t a party. Corbyn’s fallen for it and done exactly what she hoped.

As far as I am aware, Standing Order 44 simply allows other people to dictate the order of Parliamentary business. That may well affect votes on motions and amendments to said motions, but in itself would not change the law.

Thus we leave in 9 days, whatever the Commons decides, because that is enshrined in law, and only May can change that. The Tories cannot remove her, and the Tories will not be removed from government.

P.s. I think her deal will pass.....and become law in May or June. Labour or the ERG will fold. But there is a chance they won’t.

This is Corbyns dream, a collapse in which he can lead a socialist government from a massive crisis, and no one will complain because it might not be as bad as its going to be?

Due to their being no identified remains they were given earth from the crash site as a symbol of their lost one.

Anyway, be on time for a meeting.

Labour is as split as the Tory’s at present. If she could get 50-70 MPs to change their minds then she’s enough numbers to bulldoze her WA through.

Personally holding out hope for a no deal but I won’t hold my breath. I expected there to be furious opposition to Brexit from the outset from that shower of **** in the Westminster.

The ERG will fold because most of them do not want no deal, only a dozen or two hardliners. The MPs are all playing bluff.

Labour will fold because they are terrified of being seen as the Remain party. Electoral suicide beyond the urban echo chambers (see tomorrow’s Sun).

Her deal will pass. But it would be interesting to know which way she would jump if it doesn’t, however, it wouldn’t be a game of bluff if everyone knew.

I think the EU are desperate for TMs brino deal to go through as it leaves us trapped within their rules regardless of what she keeps saying ,but also they do not want an even bigger group of anti EU MEPs decending on Brussels due to the looming elections therefore if her deal fails again there might be a 4th and final go at it but this time with a legal end date on the backstop...

So with no deal definitely back on the table, and looming large with less than nine days to go, isn’t this the point at which the ‘we just need to hold our nerve’ Brexiteers told us that the EU would be offering a ton of concessions?

Hi Lancs, did you see the report today in The Times?

This report connects both coal mining and steelworks/blast furnaces. I wonder when the shipbuilders will start up again?

First deep coal mine since 1980s approved

Britain’s first new deep coal mine since the 1980s has been granted planning permission.
The mine, which will be known as the Woodhouse colliery, is to be opened near the site of the old Haig colliery, which was closed in 1986, near Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast.
The £165 million facility, which will mine seams stretching out under the Irish Sea, aims to create 550 jobs and produce more than three million tonnes of coking coal.
The coal-mining industry in Britain was producing 128 million tonnes a year in 1981.
Coking coal is typically used by steelworks and reserves mined in Cumbria could be used at Britain’s blast furnaces in Port Talbot and Scunthorpe. Much of the coal is expected to be exported from Redcar on the east coast after being transported there by rail.

The operator, West Cumbria Mining, which is backed by Australian private equity, says the mine will create £2.5 billion worth of British exports in its first ten years. Having already secured the backing of the government through Liam Fox, the international trade secretary, Woodhouse was formally granted planning approval yesterday by Cumbria county council. The mine could be operational by 2021.
Mark Kirkbride, 48, West Cumbria Mining’s chief executive and a former mining engineer with Skanska, said: “[The facility] will bring significant local benefits and have a positive impact on the local community and economy.”
With the country weaning itself off a significant dependence on fossil fuels, West Cumbria Mining has insisted that its coal will not be used for energy purposes.
Greenpeace said the planning decision was “appalling” given that last week thousands of schoolchildren were demonstrating against climate change. “We are in a climate emergency and this decision smacks of terrible short-sightedness,” said John Sauven, the group’s executive director. “We cannot afford to burn more coal.”

No it hasn''t - not really.
Firstly he said that MPs could vote to change his ruling, and he also said that they could have another vote if it was not the same motion, which it wouldn't be. May's WA would most likely be part of a more detailed motion linked to the EU agreement of the extension.
Circumstances will have changed by next week.

We live on a windy, rainy island, surrounded by sea. lets dig underground for our energy needs.
