But hey, pretending your dumb thinking was sound logic for a second, then clearly people aren't that interested in Leaving the EU any more given how few people can be bothered to "click on a link".
There was an actual meaningful vote for that

And we've changed our mind, and polling has consistently shown for a long time now. So when you think about it, it's actually your lot who are frightened of a ballot box potentially affirming those polls that show our mind has changed. Such anti-democrats that you are.

Nigel Farage and his mates had private polling done for the referendum and made a killing on the day of it based on that polling. So it's pretty funny to see his useful idiots talk **** about the accuracy of polling all the while his investment banker friends risk millions of quid on it being accurate, and making millions because it generally is.Right_winger wrote:Yeah and when was the last time an opinion poll was accurate?

If I was guessing it would be about 750,000 unique people signing it. Bit of a waste of time. We know there are 10m+ Remainers who will still vote Remain so what is the point?

We didnt have a re-run of the vote when we joined the EU. We wouldn't have had a re-run had remain won this one. I was exploring whether there is some kind of IP check but it seems not. I was curious because the press were presumptiously suggesting it was 2m people, not 2m signatures, and it struck me as an easy way to falsify it if I was a passionate Remainer. That it proved to be easy simply showed me that the press are too fond of leaping to a conclusion to suit their cognitive bias.

I don’t take it too seriously. The establishment are hell bent on stopping Brexit anyway. I don’t think it will make a difference how many are on a march or a petition.

It's almost at 4 million after 48 hours, and is still struggling to keep up with demand. Most of the 4 million would seem to be genuine if you look into it. So how many signatures needed for it not to be pointless do you think?
Leadsom, the leader of the house said 17.4 million. Do you agree with her?

Re: Brexit: The Naked Truth
Basically if its on record, then its official.
if it reaches that amount, then they would have to do something about it.
At least thats what I think the ref to hansard means.
I agree that its more of a protest than anything else, but at the same time its useful to compare it to the leave campaign efforts. One hilariously badly attended march and a petition with less than a 1/10th of the remain one, and of course there is the march tomorrow.
All this will be having an effect on the MPs, especially if its a free vote.

I would agree that on its own the petition is pointless, but it contributes to a whole series of current events and developments that are now making the chance of the softest of brexits or even revoking (in the short term at least) seem increasingly likely.SmudgetheClaret wrote:This pointless petition seems to be getting remainers moist even the blokes ..
The odds of this were really slim even 6 months ago, but the ERG's failure to work with anyone else and back anything other than "no deal" have led us to where we are.

Re: Brexit: The Naked Truth
The ERG are coming across really, really, really badly on the media as well.
They are refusing to compromise for the deal, and threatening to bring down the government (which will lead to more delays) if they don't get their way.
It all adds up.
If I was one of the top honchos in leave, I'd be having a emergency meeting about tactics this weekend, because this week has been a bad one for them.

Well no, they will be talking to their constituencies members and getting an idea of how the wind is shifting.
I think its only in Yorkshire that support for leave hasn't wavered according to the underlying polls.
And everyone appears to see that if its a GE, Brexit just becomes another factor, not the main reason.
And you have to remember, its now mainstream that whatever deal we get is going to be worse than the one we have now. No one is hiding that anymore.
People don't like getting lied to remember.

There is no point trying to resist the remainer HOC. We saw last night what the EU did when threatened with no deal. MPs have made a proper brexit impossible since 23 june 2016 by removing the threat of no deal.
I will never forgive them. Anna Soubry is the new Guy Fawkes.

If you trust that polls will reflect the final outcome why have you spent most of your recent life worrying about it? What did the polls say in 2016? Sadly polls are often wrong.Lancasterclaret wrote:Well no, they will be talking to their constituencies members and getting an idea of how the wind is shifting.
