Spam v Pool
Another glaring error of the ref's assistant leads to Pool's opening goal but thankfully Spam now 1-1 and Antonio scores yet again against Pool

Re: Spam v Pool
Shocking how the Lino missed Milner being two yards offside right in front of him. Just rank poor officiating.

Re: Spam v Pool
Agree, very poor decision but it is a decent game and that was a good goal by Antonio. I think that there will be more goals in this one the way it is going.mdd2 wrote:Another glaring error of the ref's assistant leads to Pool's opening goal but thankfully Spam now 1-1 and Antonio scores yet again against Pool

Re: Spam v Pool
How on earth can the Lino miss that. Over a yard offside, static and literally right in front of him. I am beginning to think that the officials are deliberately making glaring errors just to make sure VAR comes in next year.

Simply not doing his job to stay in line with the last defender - not fit for purpose needs to be dropped from the list - he was also guilty of making errors in a Burnley match I seem to remember.

Mane the latest player to get away with the first half free cynical foul without a booking. I just don't get it.

VAR can’t come soon enough. The officials clearly aren’t competent enough on their own.

Re: Spam v Pool
My conspiracy theory is that some officials are desperate for VAR hence the consistently awful decisions.
Or maybe they are just crap.

Re: Spam v Pool
Now the ref is ably aiding the Lino by failing to penalise Mane for preventing a West Ham attack - Burnley players get bookings for this .

Re: Spam v Pool
Isn't Alan Smith good? West Ham with a free kick 30 yards from goal and he refers to it as 'a difficult position' for a free kick for them. A clever free kick routine leads to a goal. Oh dear,Alan. You are limited.

Re: Spam v Pool
Slightly feel for him. I was always told they try to stay in line with the last defender but Lallana is that close to the touchline he has to keep out of their way.
He was also slow getting up to see if Milner had kept the ball in or not and they haven’t shown a replay.
Just on HT he’s given Salah offside when he isn’t and he has a great position.
He’s just having a ‘mare.

That’s abit unfair. I’m not sure so he’d be thinking something so simple would unlock the best defence in the league.Silkyskills1 wrote:Isn't Alan Smith good? It was shockingly bad defending. As was the Rice chance.
Terrible officiating too. The goal was harder to call than it looks on tv. A player being so close the lino can’t see what’s going on behind Milner. Should get it right thoigh. The ball must have gone out of play about 8 times in that half and the wrong decision given.

Re: Spam v Pool
important 2nd half for Liverpool - 3pts difference with city if it stays as it is.

And City would go top with a win against Everton on Wednesdayclarethomer wrote:important 2nd half for Liverpool - 3pts difference with city if it stays as it is.

Re: Spam v Pool
My argument is that no free kick for a side close to goal could ever be described as being in 'a difficult position'. It is up to the attacking side to take advantage of the situation. West Ham did it brilliantly.Dyched wrote:That’s abit unfair. I’m not sure so he’d be thinking something so simple would unlock the best defence in the league.

Of course. It was just not really in a cross or shooting position and the only way West Ham scored is school boy defending.Silkyskills1 wrote:My argument is that no free kick for a side close to goal could ever be described as being in 'a difficult position'. No disrespect to school boys intended

Re: Spam v Pool
Liverpool play so much better with Henderson & Wijnaldum than Keita & Fabinho.
Everything is so much slower and more continental tonight. T’other two move the ball much sharper which suits the Liverpool front 3

Carroll on. He’ll score. West Ham win and Spurs finish 2nd behind City.

And that just sums it up. Deep in added time Origi played through and just the keeper to beat. Miles offside and not given. Fortunately he butchered the chance.

It's not been a good weekend for the officials. Barnes non penalty, Chelsea penalty when fouled outside the box, Aguero gets hat trick when he pushed the ball in with his arm, and then tonight's farce.

Re: Spam v Pool
Liverpool where flying at new year, and then they lost at the Etihad, and their form has been patchy at best since, even the wins they gained were narrow against Palace and Brighton.
4 points dropped to mid-table sides doesn't bode well for a tough run of fixtures including CL games,City and Tottenham will be buoyed no end.
Pressure telling judging by tonight's display, fortunate to go home with a point, thanks to a generous lino.

Re: Spam v Pool
Liverpool's problem is their midfield are talented but not fighters. They got bullied by Citeh. Bullied by us, but got away with it, and bullied by West Ham . They'd win the league easy if they had a Gerrard.
