I, like a lot of people, am firmly behind Brian Clough. Revie and his team were single minded but dirty and arrogant. Brian Clough had the last laugh as he took Forrest to 2 European Cups whereas Leeds only were ever Champions of Europe in their own mind.

Revie was almost anti-football. The damage he did to the game, sending out his team to play the way they did, was an absolute disgrace. Clough, on the other hand, played football in a way we wanted to watch it. However, my dealings with Clough back in 1982, at a time when he was Forest manager, left me with nothing but contempt for him as a person. He ripped off a non-league club who were desperate for money and then, at a dinner, spent his entire speech slagging off people. It left me with absolutely no respect for him.

They disliked each other intensely but the one thing they did both have in common which was proven beyond doubt is that they were both corrupt.

Loved the film Damned United btw - Timothy Spall and Michael Sheen both brilliant in it.

I seem to recall the interview, on Yorkshire TV with Austin Mitchell, took place with Brian Clough under the impression he was being interviewed alone, and was took aback when Don Revie appeared with him in front of the cameras. Not sure whether that really happened or was done purely for the film ' The Damned United'.....

They were both ruthlessly ambitious but came with their own demons. Have things changed since then?

Decent watch. Too young to witness their teams but Clough in that reminds me very much of Mourinho. What an arse

He didn't that's why all the friction between them started Clough couldn't wait to meet Revie.

Leeds were the top dirty dogs in the league, and Clough was a new up and coming manager with a very good assistant underneath him.

Derby at the time were in the second division and were drawn at the Baseball Ground in the FA cup.

Revie had a superstition of having the team coach to park down the street and the players walk to the ground.

Clough was so excited to meet Revie he went to the gates to greet him on doing this Revie being the obnoxious fella he was walked straight pass Clough without acknowledgment and from that day forward it was a fude of hatred between one another.

He is one of my heros. The game misses him dearly.

The Damned United - one of the few cases where the film is better than the book. Michael Sheen is excellent as Clough.

I have seen that interview before but nice to see it again, all good knock about stuff and typical Brian Clough type interview as I remember him for.

Pity he went down hill after his brilliant seasons at Forest but had started drinking, thought that he was going into Politics but must have thought better of it. He used to pop up now and then on TV but just began to look like a heavy drinker until his death was announced. Oh what could have been the best manager that England never had it was said, but he was to out spoken for the FAs liking so it was quite obvious that he would never get the England job.

Peter Taylor signed erm and Cloughy did the rest, a brilliant combination and I don't think either did much once they fell out and split the very successful partnership. What a pity.

He was on the wind up...and his bold ambition to win the European cup came to pass... The Drink no doubt affected his personality and he became unpleasant.
