Newport should have had a penalty for the handball there....

Clear handball. Frustrating for the Newport team who are well on top.

They really are going for it. Dominated this first half, but just lacked that finishing for the goal.

Great cup tie. Been some cracking games this year already.
Some lesser sides taking it to bigger teams from the start.

Wolves equalised in 6th minute of first half injury time. Anyone know what happened to cause such a lengthy period?gsyclaret wrote:Wolves 2 Shrewsbury 2

Re: Newport v Boro
Newport's keeper has had to run off to the hospital as his wife has gone into labour during the game.
Hopefully the twins get named after the scorers.

Re: Newport v Boro
Cracking display from Newport who fully deserved their win. Great to watch a proper game instead of all the sanitised rubbish we get in the PL.
Re: Newport v Boro
Nothing sanitised about our Ashley. If you really want to go back to those old fourth division days you need your head examining. Just the thought of Phil Malley and the Orient David Jones causes palpitations!

Re: Newport v Boro
Really don’t think Boro had any interest in winning tonight. Their goalkeeper practically pushed the first goal into the net! Bet Pulis was fuming when that penalty got turned down.

Re: Newport v Boro
It is you who mentioned the old fourth division days ----I was referring to proper football as it used to be played with proper tackles not being penalised and when the ball was an important part of the game rather than players being considered to be in danger because someone tackles them.claretbob wrote:Nothing sanitised about our Ashley. I love it in the late 50s and early 60s because we thought we had a chance of winning something ----we did and I witnessed it ---that was also proper football with some great players around and far from the sanitised rubbish we witness these days.

Re: Newport v Boro
Second goal was beautifully constructed.
Amond runs tight behind the mass of bodies, whilst his marker, Friend, has to go the other side. Friend then is blocked off by O’Brien allowing Amond an untroubled shot.
Training ground perfection.

2nd goal a Jay Rodriguez special for Burnley!
Well done to Newport. Totally one-sided match!

Re: Newport v Boro
Always fancied Newport last night. Especially after the winners drew City, no appeal in that whatsoever for Boro!

Re: Newport v Boro
What odds on Newport working “extra hard” to sort out the pitch before the next round?
