£30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
The premier league clubs are due to meet and this subject is very much on the agenda.
It would be a real shame if prices went back up as it would have a big impact on our already reduced away followings.
We would also have to raise match day ticket prices behind the goals to whatever we wanted to charge away fans.

Absolutely ridiculous if it goes up from £30. Should be £20-£25 maximum whilst all the TV money is sloshing around.

Hope that they're also considering putting a cap on concession tickets. At some grounds these prices prices are ridiculous eg juniors at West Ham £25! It seems that to compensate for their loss of income from the £30 cap some clubs are using higher concession prices to help cover the loss. All categories should have a cap.

Be a real slap in the face for fans if it goes up with the amount of money the clubs are making.

With the make up of the bosses of the PL clubs now billionaires, I seriously doubt that they are worried about any backlash to putting this up, but I'd still be surprised if they didn't extend it.

Are the likes of Newcastle trying to maximise their takings on the poor away allocations they permit anyway?? And don't all clubs limit the away support also.

The big clubs would rather have no away support at their ground and fill it with football tourists that spend £100 in the club shop.South West Claret. wrote:As usual vote with your feet it's that and only that which will in reality make these "Greedy" clubs think seriously about prices.

In all honesty, with the amount of cash rolling around in the Prem away tickets should be as close to free as possible - it's not like the fans dont have enough to pay out for in terms of travel and time of work etc for midweek games. filling the away end at every game should be a priority to ensure the spectacle of the "product" is as good as it can be.

Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
Perhaps they will be lowering the cap
Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
I'm seeing more and more games that are "sell outs" with loads of empty seats and zero atmosphere. The PL need to think very carefully about ticket pricing and the type of 'fan' they attract.
One of the main selling points (I'm guessing) of the PL is the passion and noise of supporters. If you make it too expensive for your average bloke to go on - then, fine, you may well "sell out" but if it's sold out to people with a significant level of disposable income they'll pick and choose their matches - Arsenal saw this last season. If you earn enough money some people will think nothing of losing £50 to £100 because they can't be bothered with a Monday night game against Huddersfield (or us for that matter). However, they'll keep buying their season ticket for the four or five big games they want to go to.

Doing this would be catastrophic. Home tickets would have to be priced the same. Season tickets would have to work out cheaper per game also.Rick_Muller wrote:In all honesty, with the amount of cash rolling around in the Prem away tickets should be as close to free as possible - it's not like the fans dont have enough to pay out for in terms of travel and time of work etc for midweek games. filling the away end at every game should be a priority to ensure the spectacle of the "product" is as good as it can be.
It's ok to say the PL is full of money give cheap tickets away. But you can't simply wack them back up when back in the Championship.

I do understand the point about dropping down and having to pay again. It's not a simple solution, I just think that every away end should be full - currently they're not.

Aren't Rovers stuck in the trap of having offered cheap season tickets, thus when they need the revenue of gate receipts they are struggling?

In all honesty I'm not that fussed, but I do enjoy the matches more when the away support is good, as against Southampton in the last home game.

For a club like ours we can never afford to drop prices for home supporters. It would be commercial suicide.

Their fans used to dole out grief about cost of a season ticket at Burnley, but they could never understand the simple basics of finances at the best of times.
Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
Because away fans watching a game for less money than home fans and potentially season ticket holders is wrong.Rick_Muller wrote:Why do home tickets have to be priced the same as away tickets?

The only way to keep costs down is if clubs put on travel for a discounted price. If they had a proper structure in place. Eg, You travel to 4 away games you get the next away travel free.
But then doing that would put the likes of Leisure at a disadvantage which would also be wrong.
Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
Its about time ticket prices were standardised across the football leagues. £10 league 2, £15 league one, £20 championship, £25 prem.
Then there's no panic to change prices getting promoted/relegated.

Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
I'm not sure that they do. Certainly away tickets can't be priced higher than home fans would pay for the same stand/view but I can't believe that Arsenal fans located to the left of us at the Emirates were only paying £26 for their tickets!Rick_Muller wrote:Why do home tickets have to be priced the same as away tickets?
Premier League single-ticket prices for home fans
Team Most expensive Least expensive
Arsenal £97 £27
Bournemouth £55 £32
Brighton £65 £30
Burnley £40 £30
Cardiff City £42 £25
Chelsea £87 £30
Crystal Palace £53 £30
Everton £49 £38
Fulham £75 £30
Huddersfield Town £30 £30
Leicester City £50 £26
Liverpool £59 £9
Manchester City £58 £30
Manchester United £53 £31
Newcastle United £50 £27
Southampton £52 £32
Tottenham £95 £30
Watford £42 £36
Wolves £40 £22
West Ham £80 £25
Don't know if this table is for adults or concessions but quite a few Least expensive are higher than £30.

Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
It's ridiculous when (as I've mentioned on here before) I read a piece not that long ago that showed the percentage of its income a PL club gets via gate money and that percentage is extremely small. The article was actually saying they could pretty much let all fans in for free as it's such a small amount of their overall revenue. As long as you're in the PL of course!
Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
I would like to take my 8yr old to more away games, but when you factor in the ticket prices, travel & food on the day it comes in @ over £100, which when your on a budget it's hard to keep telling my son we can't go sorry. We still try to get to 3 - 4 away games a season though, but would obviously like to go to more! I feel if they could make adult tickets capped @ £20 n kids @ £10 the money we would be saving on the prices @ the moment we could use this towards the coach travel in which we could go to a lot more away games, which would be fantastic for this dad n lad!
Let's hope for some positive news on this subject. utc.

Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
I think the clubs should definitely subsidise away travel for fans. It would be a direct way of rewarding the fans who spend all day travelling to Brighton etc. I think it's over £30 for a seat on the supporters coaches for this weekend on top of the ticket price, some food and drink you are looking at £70/£80 for an away game for one person. That's pretty expensive for 90 minutes football.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the cap was lifted. Money is king. In football in this country if they can squeeze an extra penny out of anyone they will.

Was like that at the Emirates before the cap. But, when they are playing one of the perceived bigger clubs, the away fans pay £30 for their seats and the home tickets go north of £60.Leisure wrote:I'm not sure that they do. Re: £30 away ticket cap up for discussion.
Today's news, while always expected, is really good news for away fans.
I know the initial campaign was twenty's plenty but I don't think we are going to get there and will have to accept this cap. The one thing that really needs to be pushed now is the price some clubs charge for young adults. Prices for the 18-22 age range at some clubs is way too high.

Except that charging £30 for an adult ticket makes the majority of concession tickets way over priced eg £25 at West Ham for children!hampsteadclaret wrote:The £30 cap will remain in place for the next 3 seasons - just announced on Sky News..good news.

Peter - At our home game on 23rd against one of the best sides in Europe and we are charging £30 for away fans and £40 for home fans in some parts of the ground. This is what Leeds are charging Bolton fans for Championship football on the same day.
Adults - £39.00
Over 60s - £26.00
Under 23s - £26.00
Disabled - £26.00
Under 16s - £18.00
Under 11s - £9.00
I think that the whole of the football leagues need to talk and make some sense of it all and come up with a pricing structure.

"Fulham £75"
Wowzers! Well at least they get to see a lot of goals!!!
I live in London and when the Chelsea away game was £49 I refused to pay it so stayed at home - even though it's pretty much the closest game to where I live. Didn't think that we would get a draw that day either!!!
Glad to see that it's remaining capped at £30 but it is ridiculous that the Football League isn't the same. If we do go down at some point, I highly expect many of us (rightly) to complain about the fact that the FL costs more.
Can see it going up in 3 years' time though with reason such as inflation etc.
RE: fixtures changing for TV, surely the home team (who benefit greatly financially from the rearrangement) should help subsidise the travel rearrangements (as others have suggested).
