Goal Music
Goal Music
Surely it’s time to consider bringing it back. It was embarrassing when Barnes scored the penalty on Saturday. I get that a lot of supporters had left the stadium but overall the celebrations seemed mild on the stream that I was watching.
Let’s get the goal music back and get the atmosphere back!!

Re: Goal Music
I think it would have been even more embarrassing to hear goal music in the 94th minute. Awful.

It's always better live... The penalty was more a relief so you may be right.MRG wrote:Surely it’s time to consider bringing it back. It was embarrassing when Barnes scored the penalty on Saturday. Re: Goal Music
Maybe we should adopt the basketball style. Went to watch the UK finals in Birmingham 2 weeks ago - music is blared out during any breaks in play.... it worked, it was a great atmosphere and the crowd seemed to use the music as a signal to jump up and shout support. Maybe we add music during an injury / timewasting / ball going ont Bob Lord roof.... etc

Re: Goal Music
Part of the problem was possibly also that even though we managed to snatch a draw in the last minute, to me it still felt like a lost /robbed 2 points rather than a point gained and so was still disappointing and not a cause for celebration like it would have been had we won the match.

Re: Goal Music
As someone who was indifferent about the goal music before when we had it, I must say that it must never return. The fans reactions and cheering is much better that being force fed music to bounce in time to.

Re: Goal Music
As a kid I loved it
As an adult I wasn’t as keen
The thing that got to most was the reason the club said they continued with it was along the lines of “...when we play it we see supporters jumping around to it”
It made it sound like we wouldn’t know to celebrate scoring if it wasn’t played

We will look stupid playing Tom Hark only for VAR to rule it out 60 seconds later.

Re: Goal Music
Most people were still confused about what was going on. Barnes picked the ball up, put it on a spot and kicked it. What the **** was that all about?MRG wrote:Surely it’s time to consider bringing it back. It was embarrassing when Barnes scored the penalty on Saturday. Yes, astonished the ref missed it. Surely Barnes should have been booked for handball (and then sent off)? Looks like we got away with one there. And people want VAR!!!TheFamilyCat wrote:Most people were still confused about what was going on. Barnes picked the ball up, put it on a spot and kicked it. What the **** was that all about?
Re: Goal Music
In general I don't think we use music enough. We need to ramp up the volume to really get the crowd rocking. What you need is loads of banging "chooooooonnnnneessss" - the more modern, the better. Make sure it is at ear-splitting volume.
As everyone knows the usual demographic of your average football fan absolutely loves this. You need to make sure that you can't speak to the bloke next to you. In that way, when the music ends, everyone will immediately spark up a roaring chant.
Or....
Like everyone does at the moment - everyone will stay in the pub until the last possible moment and then moan about the queues outside meaning they can't get in on time.

I celebrated that Barnes goal harder than I've celebrated a lot of goals recently. It was a mixture of relief and a sense of justice.

If you are watching at home and want goal music there is nothing stopping you.
Plus by having a cd on pause it doesn't inflict its misery on those at the match.

Thanks but no thanks from me I really don’t like the rather desperate attempts to artificially create some noise with Loud music.MRG wrote:Surely it’s time to consider bringing it back. If they really want to affect the noise then the sooner the law to bring back safe standing is in place the better.

Re: Goal Music
Ditch it all for me-all the music and that montage before the game at ear splitting volume. And while you are at it get rid of the microphone guy other than to read the teams out if he must. Welcome back to the pitch....BURNLEEEEEEEEEE!.........and (in a cringingly low voice) brighton or whoever.

Re: Goal Music
When Barnes scored there was a huge roar, and admittedly a massive sense of (non masturbatory) relief. The thought of goal music in IT..god almighty we might as well bring in happy clapper things. I don't think even brigton have a goal song do they? Fair enough our old song wasn't THAT bad per se but to bring goal music back....just NO

Vuvuzela, foam hands, clap sticks, goal music, cheer leaders, flashing advertisements, shouty announcer... they can all bugger off back to the USA or wherever they all came from.

Re: Goal Music
OP makes a valid point. Watching it on TV its embarrassing how quiet our so called "proper" fans are. A bit of upbeat goal music to cheer along to would help mask how poor our support has become of late

No, no, a thousand times no! How bloody embarrasing. Somebody will next be suggesting build up music on attacks like ice hockey. Aaarghh!!! I was glad to see the back of it and it must never happen again, simply awful Americanisation of our beloved game.

Re: Goal Music
There's always a majority for "no music" on here. My recollection is that a wider survey of fans in the real world (done by the club) produced a different result but it's a few years back now. Internet forums are hopeless places to gauge public opinion on most topics .....interesting to read differing views of course.South West Claret. wrote:28 posts now on the subject of Musack or not and there is a clear Majority for none in my humble.

Actually - I've just checked. There were at least three internet polls organised by the club and although the first two were in favour of the music the most recent was definitely against with more than 1000 participants. Would be interesting to know what caused the swing away in opinion (especially as the most recent poll came at the end of the 2015/16 season which was highly successful on the pitch).
